Who is James Mcavoy Married to?
In a new interview with The Guardian, 42-year-old actor James McAvoy said that he and Lisa Liberati got married in a secret ceremony. In 2016, McAvoy and Liberati met on the set of the horror movie Split, where Liberati worked as M. Night Shyamalan’s personal helper.
A few years later, they started dating, and now McAvoy has revealed that they just got married. The couple kept their marriage a secret, and McAvoy wouldn’t say anything else because he didn’t want to give the tabloids more to write about.
Both McAvoy and Liberati loved Philadelphia, where Split was shot, and where Liberati grew up. This brought them closer together. McAvoy has said that Philadelphia is his other home.
Before he married Liberati, McAvoy was married to Anne-Marie Duff from 2006 to 2016, and they have a son named Brendan who is now 11 years old. McAvoy and Duff worked together on the British TV show Shameless, where Duff played the love interest of McAvoy’s character.
McAvoy is known for being private, and in a 2017 interview with Mr. Porter, he said that he wanted to keep his personal life private. Liberati and McAvoy haven’t been seen in public together very often.
The last time they were seen in public was in 2019 when McAvoy posted a photo of them wearing colorful wigs and matched hoodies for Halloween.

Anne-Marie Duff, an English actor, and storyteller, was born on October 8, 1970. After finishing her training at Drama Centre London, she started acting on TV in the late 1990s in shows like Trial & Retribution, Amongst Women, and Aristocrats.
Duff became well-known for her roles as Fiona Gallagher on the drama series Shameless on Channel 4 and as Queen Elizabeth I in The Virgin Queen, both of which won her a Best Actress BAFTA nomination.
She also won the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Actress for her role in the TV movie The History of Mr. Polly, which came out in 2007.
Duff has played Claire Church in From Darkness, Ma Costa in His Dark Materials, Erin Wiley in Sex Education, and Tracy Daszkiewicz in The Salisbury Poisonings, among other parts.
Duff has also been in movies like Enigma, The Magdalene Sisters, Notes on a Scandal, French Film, The Last Station, Nowhere Boy, Before I Go to Sleep, and Suffragette, among others. She was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in Nowhere Boy.
Duff’s parents were Irish people who moved to London. Her mother was from County Donegal and worked in a shoe shop. Her father was from County Meath and worked as a painter and designer at Fuller’s Brewery in Chiswick.
Duff went to Mellow Lane School in Southall, London. It was in the school band that she found out she could sing well.
She paid a master who taught classical singing to teach her how to sing, and she soon became interested in making a living as a singer. But her teacher told her she should become an actor instead, so, at age 19, Duff went to London to study at the Drama Centre.
In 2006, Duff married Scottish actor James McAvoy, and in 2010, the pair had a son. They told their son in May 2016 that they were getting a divorce, but at first, they lived together in North London to keep his life as normal as possible.
