GT vs DC Highlights IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals beat Gujarat Titans by 5 runs in a low-scoring thriller

NEW DELHI: On Tuesday at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad, Delhi Capitals won a hard-fought five-run game against the top-ranked Gujarat Titans. This kept them in the Indian Premier League 2023.

It was the Capitals’ third win in nine games this season, while it was the Titans’ third loss. The result did not change where they stood in the IPL standings. The Titans were still at the top, and the Capitals were still at the bottom.

After choosing to bat first, the Capitals scored 130 for 8, which wasn’t very good. However, their bowlers were able to stop the Titans at 125 for 6 in their 20 overs.

Ishant Sharma, an experienced pacer, kept his cool when he had to defend 12 runs in the last over. He got rid of Rahul Tewatia, who had scored 20 runs in 7 balls, and gave up just six runs in the process.

This happened after Tewatia hit Anrich Nortje for three sixes in a row in the 19th over, bringing the score to 12 off 6 balls from 33 off 12.
Mohammed Shami (4/11 in four overs) was deadly with the new ball as he took the wind out of the Capitals’ top order by bowling perfect lengths. This helped Gujarat Titans keep DC to a low score.

Aman Khan (51 runs off 44 balls) got his first fifty and fought alone to score some much-needed runs. With Axar Patel (27), he added 50 points in 54 balls, and with Ripal Patel (23), he added 53 points in 27 balls.

In response, Hardik Pandya’s slow fifty (59 not out off 53 balls) and Rahul Tewatia’s hat-trick of sixes (20) were not enough to stop the reigning champions. Instead, Delhi’s bowlers kept their cool and stopped the team.

With a small goal to defend, Delhi’s fast bowlers were able to make an early breakthrough. Within the first five overs, Gujarat lost three wickets.

If “Impact Player” Khaleel Ahmed (2/24) bowled a beautiful first over with no wickets, “Speed Spearhead” Anrich Nortje (1/39) got rid of the dangerous Shubman Gill (6).

Ishant (2/23) also joined the party when he threw a perfect knuckleball to fool Vijay Shankar (6).
Slow bowlers were brought in, and wickets kept falling. In the seventh over, left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav (1/15) fooled David Miller (0).

The Gujarat team got back on track when Pandya and Abhinav Manohar (26) put up 62 runs at the same time.

Tewatia hit three sixes in a row in the final over, which was anchored by Pandya. But in the last over, when 12 runs were needed, Ishant gave up only six runs while getting Tewatia out. This was a very important wicket.
