It’s hard to believe that this week will be the final episode of Andor’s first season, but we’re eager to start talking about Andor Season 2 now. Tony Gilroy’s Rogue One prequel series has radically reinvented what Star Wars is capable of achieving, not only on television but also in terms of narrative in general. As the series finale is quickly approaching, Collider’s very own Steve Weintraub sat down with Gilroy to discuss the Andor Season 2, and naturally, he posed the most important question of all.
When can fans expect the second season of Andor to premiere? It was revealed to us earlier this month that production on Andor Season 2 would begin this week and that it will continue until August 2023; hence, it is quite unlikely that the series will return before the end of the following year. While the filming of some shows may come to an end, they may go straight into post-production, and they may have episodes airing on television within a few months, a series like Andor requires a significant amount of labour.
Andor Season 2 Release Date
Andor stands out from the other Star Wars shows available on streaming services since it not only had the most airtime of any live-action Star Wars series but also had its overall structure mapped out from the very beginning. Andor Season 2 will cover the four years leading up to the events of Rogue One. Season 1 focuses on the events that led Cassian to join the Rebellion rather than simply look out for himself, while Season 2 will cover the years leading up to Rogue One. On the eve of the conclusion of Season 1, we now have a date to look forward to Andor Season 2, and it may arrive sooner than you think.
In an interview, the showrunner for Andor provided details about the timeline for the remainder of the series. He stated that production on Andor Season 2 has already begun and will continue all the way through August 2023. If post-production takes as much time as it did for Season 1, we anticipate a gap of two years between seasons. As a direct consequence of this, the next time we see Cassian, Luthen, or Mon Mothma will not be until the fall of 2024. For example, Season 2 of The Mandalorian finished airing in December 2020 and will begin airing again in February 2023.
Tony Gilroy, on the other hand, proposed that the programme could be released sooner if money were provided to speed the post-production process and make it more efficient. It is certainly feasible that the appropriate person at Disney will be willing to pay the additional money given how well-liked Andor has been among fans. This is a possibility that cannot be ruled out.
Even if the second season of Andor won’t be released until the latter half of 2024, there is a chance that it will be produced in less than two years if the right motivation is present. When it comes to the Star Wars series that will be available on Disney+, fans have learned to be patient, but it’s possible that Andor will be able to deliver the goods a little bit sooner than expected.
Because Andor is so physically and conceptually distinct from every other Star Wars episode, the easiest way to keep it popular would be to abbreviate the production cycle as much as possible; therefore, we can only hope that Disney is aware of how valuable Andor is and has plans to respond appropriately.
Andor Season 1 Review
This ground-level look at a budding resistance movement is a fantastic thriller that snakes its way between Imperial power corridors and the homes of the innocents that they damage. Andor is a Star Wars experience like no other. There are unforgettable action sequences that are made much more dramatic by the tangible stakes that are created, and at times it moves at a snail’s pace, yelling only sometimes but very loudly.
Set five years before the events of Rogue One, Andor follows Cassian Andor’s path from wanderer to rebel who finds a purpose, and along the way, the series continues to astound with the adult subjects it addresses and the emotional depth it explores, making it a genuine breath of fresh air in the Star Wars-set drama. It’s one of the best television series of the year, and it’s as fantastic as Star Wars has been in a long time.
This programme does not feature any Jedi or lightsabers, and one could argue that it is not even a Star Wars show; rather, it is a show that simply happens to star members of the film that it is preparing for. However, the fact that this is the case is the primary reason why viewers enjoy it so much more than anything else.

Why Everybody Loves Andor?
Andor is not like the previous Star Wars shows; instead, it is gritty, dramatic, rooted in authentic human emotion, and as realistic as a show can be that takes place in a galaxy far, far away. Because this is a serious show intended for serious Star Wars fans, there are no cute children or newborn aliens in this programme, nor are there any meme-able moments; this is one reason why we all have to appreciate B2EMO.
As the Andor family’s beloved, rusted bucket of bolts, B2EMO is the only source of humour in an otherwise depressing programme, and his first scene perfectly encapsulates why he’s great: he’s barreling across an early morning ghost town in search of his friend Cassian, then an extraterrestrial warthog dog jumps on him, forcing him to shock the beast.
