Rian Johnson Confirms the Gay Identity of Daniel Craig’s Character in “Knives Out”

Rian Johnson, the director of Knives Out, has stated in a public statement that the character Benoit Blanc, who is portrayed by Daniel Craig, is “clearly” gay.

During a press conference that took place at the London Film Festival, the director was questioned about the potential of Blanc being gay. This came up as a result of a scene in the future Glass Onion sequel, which gave the impression that the main character was cohabitating with another guy.

Johnson responded, “It is quite clear that he is.” He proceeded by saying, “And there’s nobody in the world I can fathom in bringing me more delight for Benoit Blanc to be with,” alluding to the actor who made a cameo appearance as Blanc’s partner. The actor’s name has not been revealed. “I’m not going to give anything away, but who among us wouldn’t want to live with that person?” A comment was made by Craig.

Benoit Blanc makes a return appearance in Glass Onion, in which he is assigned with solving a murder case on a private Greek island that is owned by a tech millionaire named Miles Bron, who is portrayed by Edward Norton.

Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista are some of the other actors who will be a part of this new ensemble cast alongside him and Craig. Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also make a special guest appearance. In their final cinematic roles, Natasha Lyonne, Hugh Grant, Yo-Yo Ma, and the late Stephen Sondheim and Angela Lansbury appear.

The film Glass Onion will have a limited one-week run in theatres beginning on November 23, followed by a release on Netflix on December 23.
