Participant Jisoo Reacts to Fox from The Simpsons Enjoying K-Pop and BLACKPINK

In a recent episode of “The Simpsons,” the character Lisa Simpson discussed her admiration for Korean pop music, and more specifically for the girl group BLACKPINK.

On the episode of The Simpsons that airs on November 13, Homer Simpson and his daughter Lisa are riding in the car when Homer begins to list several musical genres in an effort to determine what kind of music his daughter like.

In the end, Lisa admits to her father, “Dad, I like K-pop.” The song “Lovesick Girls,” which was released by BLACKPINK in 2020, is soon played as Homer swiftly turns it on, and all of the characters in the car begin rocking to the music, even singing along to the Korean lyrics as they continue to go.

Immediately after the broadcast of the episode, the official account for The Simpsons uploaded a clip in which Lisa declares her love for Korean pop music, and showrunner Matt Selman tweeted a link to the music video for Lovesick Girls. He added in the tweet: “Lovesick Girls by Blackpink is Lisa’s jam at The Simpsons.”

Jisoo, a member of BLACKPINK, posted a reaction video to her Instagram stories shortly after the episode aired to share her thoughts about BLACKPINK’s music being featured on The Simpsons. The singer posted a video to her YouTube channel in which the characters sing along to the song “Lovesick Girls” while riding in a car. She captioned the video with the question mark emoji and wrote: “Is this true?!!”

It is not the first time that the showrunners for The Simpsons have made a reference to K-pop artists while working on the series. Although the K-pop singers have not yet made an appearance in any of The Simpsons’ episodes, the BTS boy band has already been acknowledged in one of the episodes of the current season.

In the episode that airs on March 17, Homer, Marge, Lisa, and Maggie all go to South Korea to compete in a video game tournament. Fans of the band observed many signs written in English and Korean with the words “BTS is here today” and “BTS ARMY Recruitment Center” as the characters strolled along the street. These signs were a reference to the boy band’s fan base, which is also called ARMY.

BLACKPINK is presently on the “Born Pink” world tour in support of their second studio album of the same name, which was released in September. This tour is in support of their second studio album, which was also titled “Born Pink.” The quartet will begin their tour of Europe at the end of November and continue it until the end of December. The following year, in 2023, they will begin their tour of Asia and Oceania.
