lilo & Stitch Plot
While we do not have official narrative details for this new version of Lilo & Stitch, we assume that it will roughly adhere to the plot of the original film. For those unfamiliar with the original and about to watch Lilo and Stitch for the very first time, here is a spoiler-free synopsis.
In the beginning of the original 2002 film, Dr Jumba (David Ogden Stiers), an eccentric insane scientist, is on trial light years from Earth. The Galactic Federation has accused Jumba of violating one of its most sacred laws by creating an intelligent life form with the intent to destroy everything it encounters.
In spite of his insistence that he is innocent, the court summons Experiment 626, a repugnant, ill-tempered, and extremely impolite organism. The Grand Councilwoman (Zoe Caldwell) quickly sentences Experiment 626 to permanent exile, but this proves to be easier said than done.
Experiment 626 is able to escape his confines, commandeer a spacecraft, and crash-land on the isolated Hawaiian island of Kauai.
Here, we meet the second titular protagonist, Lilo Pelekai (Daviegh Chase), an imaginative but troubled child who has difficulty making friends. Lilo is currently being cared for by her elder sister, Nani (Tia Carrere), and they are both struggling to maintain their relationship and lives after their parent’s untimely deaths.
Shortly after Experiment 626 crashes on the island, he is driven over by a truck and taken to an animal shelter nearby. Nani believes it would be beneficial for Lilo to have a creature she can care for and relate to, so she takes her to the animal shelter to adopt a dog.
This is how the family encounters 626, and while Nani is wary of the strange-looking creature, Lilo forms an instant bond with the creature she affectionately names Stitch.
Now that a social worker threatens to take Lilo away and two other aliens have been recruited to capture Stitch, Lilo, Stitch, and Nani do their best to keep their family together for as long as possible.
