Is Zoro Related to Ryuma? Who is Zoro’s Ancestor in One Piece Series?
Is Zoro Related to Ryuma? Undoubtedly, Roronoa Zoro is one of the most well-known protagonists in the One Piece series. Zoro, like Luffy, aspires to be the best at what he does; in this case, he wants to become a better swordsman than his hero and adversary, Dracule Mihawk. Zoro’s abilities have long been the subject of conjecture, especially considering that he has never consumed a Devil Fruit.
One popular idea holds that Zoro’s proficiency with bladed weapons stems from his lineage as a descendant of Ryma Shimotsuki, a famed swordsman from Wano Country. Let’s find out if that’s true or not in this article.
About Zoro Family
Zoro spent his childhood in the East Blue town of Shimotsuki, where he trained at the local dojo after being born. He studied nitryu and became so powerful that he could easily defeat grown men. Kuina, the master’s daughter, was, nevertheless, an opponent he could never hope to beat. He engaged in combat with her 2001 times but was always defeated.
Sometime later, he issued a last challenge to her, but this time he used metal sabres instead of wooden ones, and he was soundly defeated once more. Zoro sobbed at his inability to achieve his goal of becoming the greatest swordsman in the world.
Kuina had the same aspiration, but she realized from a young age that, as a woman, she lacked the necessary physical power to make it a reality.
Because of this, Zoro felt even more shameful, for even if he were to win against Kuina, he would never know for sure if it was due to his own power or Kuina’s. They agreed that one of them would train to become the greatest swordsman in history.
Kuina tragically died after tripping on the stairs the following day. Zoro promised himself he would fulfil his obligation, so he went to his instructor and requested for Kuina Wadô Ichimonji‘s blade.
He then came up with a new combat technique he dubbed the Santryu, in which he used three katanas—two in his hands and one in his mouth (in this case, that of Kuina). Zoro abandoned his training at the dojo and set out to find Mihawk.

Is Zoro Related to Ryuma?
Zoro is unrelated to Ryma Shimotsuki as far as anyone knows. Zoro has a different surname and does not appear to be from Wano Country, yet the two look quite similar and are both skilled swordsmen who were raised in Shimotsuki Village. Because of this, we can only call it a fan hypothesis for now.
