Who is YNW Melly?

Jamell Maurice Demons is an American rapper and singer who goes by the stage name YNW Melly. His songs “Murder on My Mind,” “Mixed Personalities,” “Suicidal,” and “223’s” are among his most well-known works.

He became even more famous when he was charged with killing two other rappers in the “YNW” group. Melly vs. Melvin, his first record, came out in November 2019. It peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200 chart.

But in February 2019, he was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder with premeditation. If he is found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life in prison or even get the death sentence.

He is also a possible killer in the death of a Gifford sheriff’s officer in 2017. Demons were charged with killing two people in March 2019, and he pleaded not guilty. He is now waiting for his hearing.

Demons were born in Gifford, Florida, on May 1, 1999. He was raised by his single mother, Jamie Demons-King, who was only 14 when she had him in ninth grade.

He doesn’t know who his father is, but another rapper named Donte “Tha Gift” Taylor says he is his father. Demons-King had a hard time taking care of her family and couldn’t afford even the most basic things, like a place to live.

YNW BSlime, Demons’ younger brother, is also a rapper. Demons joined the Bloods gang when he was young, and when he was 15, he started putting his songs on SoundCloud. In 2015, Demons was arrested for shooting at a group of students near Vero Beach High School.

He spent a few months in jail after being found guilty of aggravated battery, discharging a firearm in public, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Since he was accused of murder, YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Maurice Demons, has been in jail. He had been in trouble with the law before. On October 19, 2015, he shot at three people near Vero Beach High School.

He was caught on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of discharging a firearm in public. He was locked up for a year before he was given probation and let out. But he broke his probation again in 2017 and was arrested again. He was freed in March 2018.

In June 2018, Demons was caught again in Fort Myers, Florida, on charges that he had marijuana, a gun or ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, even though he was already a convicted felon.

Demons and another YNW rapper named Cortlen Henry are accused of killing Williams (YNW Sakchaser) and Thomas Jr. (YNW Juvy) and making it look like they were killed in a drive-by shooting. Henry took the injured people to the hospital, but they later died from their injuries. Demons gave up on February 13, 2019.

On February 22, 2019, Complex reported that Demons and Henry were also suspects in the shooting death of an Indian River County sheriff’s officer in Gifford in 2017.

Is YNW Melly Still in Jail?

Yes, YNW Melly is still in jail as of 2023. In February 2019, he was caught and charged with killing two other rappers in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in October 2018. Since 2019, when his hearing started on April 4, he has been in the Broward County Jail in Florida.

Even though YNW Melly has said things on social media that make it sound like he will be out of jail soon, as of May 2022, he is still in jail. His mother and brother have also said that they think he will be freed soon if a jury is chosen quickly.

Still, we don’t know what the result of his trial will be yet. Several sources say that He asked to be let out of jail early because of his health. As an example, he used 6ix9ine’s early release from prison because of asthma and bronchitis. But on April 14, his request was turned down.
