Nowadays, media outlets have sparked widespread discussion regarding Twin Cities celebrity chef Justin Sutherland being charged with threatening to shoot his girlfriend. This incident has sent shockwaves and raised the issue of domestic violence.
Justin Sutherland was arrested on Friday night in St. Paul and emerged in Ramsey County District Court on Monday. As per the official court documents state that he violently choked her and broke her phone then pointed a gun at her.
The attorney of Sutherland, John Daly, said about the criminal complaint filed about him by MPR News on Monday that all the information was false and riddled with truths. He replied that neither he had any gun nor had he choked any girl before.

Sutherland was released without having to pay bail until his next court appearance. He was instructed to surrender his firearms and will appear in court again next month.

On that night, the corps received various 911 calls on Friday night from masses at a similar address as everyone was so concerned about the safety of women. When they checked on her, they identified her as Sutherland’s girlfriend.
A witness reported that he saw a man with a gun pointing at a woman whose hands were up. The victim’s sister was on the phone with her at that time and she confirmed that the voice that came from outside was of his boyfriend, Sutherland, before taking the phone away from her, he was going to threaten her.
Her girlfriend told the higher authorities about the scenario that initially he verbally abused her then he pointed a gun at her and threatened to shoot. Moreover, claimed smashing her car’s windshield two days earlier.

One woman said that Sutherland and her girlfriend had plans to go to a music festival but did not manage to go and he was disappointed. She explained everything to the police that first, he choked her neck and she ran to the neighbor’s home. When she returned, he pointed a gun at her and a friend took the gun away from Sutherland.
While investigating the home where the incident occurred, the team found 10 firearms in the home and two were on a case on top of a bed. Furthermore, a broken phone was also found.
According to the lawsuit, Sutherland denied issuing threats during a discussion with a correctional investigator. The judge noted that Sutherland has consistently appeared in court on time and that his only previous conviction was for a DWI case over 15 years ago, as the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

Recently, Sutherland appeared on the TV’s “Top Chef” and “Iron Chef America,” co-hosts the show “Fast Foodies,” and won an Emmy for hosting his show “Taste the Culture.” He is well-recognized for Twin Cities restaurants.
In June, he and several may partners officially announced to opening of two restaurants in Minneapolis’ Mill District. and in May, the Rondo Community Land Trust signed a partnership with him and his father as they all wanted to develop a new concept for Golden Thyme Coffee and Cafe in St. Paul’s Rondo neighborhood.
