As for the Second Season of “Heartbreak High” on Netflix, What Happened to It?

The new version of Heartbreak High, aimed towards young adults in Australia, debuted on Netflix in September 2022. Will there be a second season of it to look forward to? There have been rumblings, albeit nothing official has been communicated to us as of yet, that the show will be returning. The following information pertains to the upcoming second season of the Netflix original series Heartbreak High.

The original show from the 1990s that was remade into Heartbreak High is currently streaming in its entirety on Netflix across the majority of the world. It is a contemporary high school romance drama that is comparable to Elite and the drama Heartstopper that was released this year.

The series was unveiled to the public for the first time on September 14, 2022, despite having been initially announced in December 2020. It received mostly positive reviews upon its initial release. The fact that characters of varying ethnicities, genders, and disabilities were included received positive comments from several reviews.

Has Netflix Renewed or Cancelled Heartbreak High?

The official status of the renewal is now listed as “not yet renewed.”
According to the reports, it is very possible that the contract will be extended for another year.

The show got off to a shaky start on Netflix, as you will see in the following section, and it did not perform well in countries other than Australia. The fact that the show’s representatives actively tried to stop coverage was most likely one of the many factors that contributed to this result; nonetheless, in spite of this obstacle in the road, the show was eventually able to attract a viewership.

Heartbreak High

According to Michael Sun of The Guardian, who previously worked as a culture editor at Netflix Australia, the show’s popularity has increased because of TikTok. This is something that has happened with other shows in the past, such as Ginny & Georgia and Purple Hearts. The show has 12.5 billion views on TikTok at the time this article was written, which most likely led people to watch it on Netflix after discovering it on TikTok.

The news that the show would be returning for a second season was first reported by the Daily Telegraph in Australia on October 2nd. When we called Netflix, they said that they were unable to provide us with any information “at this moment.” The future of the show appears promising for the time being, but we have not yet received an official answer.

How Well is Heartbreak High Doing on Netflix?

As was mentioned before, Heartbreak High got off to a rocky start on Netflix in every region of the world. Let’s begin with the most basic information that FlixPatrol was able to obtain from Netflix regarding the top 10 series.

Even in Australia, the show did not reach the number one spot until the 21st and 22nd of September respectively. Prior to that, it had only reached the fifth spot for a brief period of time.

You may get an idea of the show’s popularity in different parts of the world by looking at the map that follows. The biggest numbers were recorded in Australia and New Zealand, although South Africa and other nations in Eastern Europe also fared well.

What About Outside Interest in the Show?

TelevisionStats.com provides some data on more conventional sources such as Wikipedia, Google Search Trends, Twitter, and Reddit, amongst others; but, it does not include any data on TikTok. As a consequence of this, the show has never been more popular than the 28th most popular show since it was first released.

Would you be interested in seeing Heartbreak High if there was a second season? Tell us in the next part, shall we?
