Early Life of Ringo Starr

Ringo Starr was born Richard Starkey on July 7, 1940, in the Dingle neighborhood of Liverpool, England. Richard Starkey and Elsie Gleave, his parents, were only married for a year before they split up.

His mother had to work more than one job because of this problem, but things got worse when Ringo got appendicitis at age 6 and went into a coma for three days. It took him a whole year to fully recover.

After Starr was released from the hospital, he couldn’t go to school until he was 8. Because of this, he did poorly in school. Ringo also had a number of other health problems that kept him in hospitals for longer periods of time.

Ringo started to become interested in drumming while he was in the hospital. This time, when he got out of the hospital, he didn’t go back to school. Instead, he stayed at home to enjoy his newfound love of music.

In 1956, Starr worked as an apprentice machinist for a company that made tools. While he was there, he met Roy Trafford, who also liked music.

After joining the skiffle band, Ringo Starr started making music. He later joined the band Rory Storm Hurricanes. By this time, the drummer had changed his name to Ringo Starr.

In 1960, he met the Liverpool band the Beatles. Two years later, he left his band to replace Pete Best in the Beatles. This put him on the road to success with Paul McCartney and George Harrison, who was also in the new band.

Ringo Starr recorded his first professional song with the Beatles in 1962. It was the first single “Love Me Do.”

“Please Please Me” came out the next year after “P.S. I Love You.” Starr also sang some of the band’s songs when he wasn’t playing the drums.

During that time, he worked on other things, like a movie called The Magic Christian, which came out in 1969.
