Who is the Ponytail Killer in Big Mouth?
Big Mouth features a variety of characters, such as hormone monsters and bewildered youngsters, as well as a serial killer called the Ponytail Killer. But who is responsible for all of those killings?
With the aid of their Hormone Monsters (who primarily cause trouble) and other challenges that aren’t directly related to their sexuality, Big Mouth follows a group of teenagers as they navigate puberty.
Being a highly self-aware sitcom, Big Mouth has never shied away from addressing contentious or “taboo” subjects, naming other businesses and their properties, or even making fun of itself (and dragging Netflix along with it) since its 2017 premiere.
Big Mouth is a unique experience because, despite its primary focus on sexuality and puberty, it has also addressed issues such as self-love, feminism, toxic masculinity, connection to technology, and more.
Through a semi-recurring character, the Ponytail Killer, who fans are as familiar with as the series’ characters, Big Mouth has managed to establish its own mystery beneath all of that. Even while the Ponytail Killer hasn’t “appeared” too often, it has been enough to have viewers wondering who is behind the killings and whether or not that person has already been revealed.
The Ponytail Killer: All the Information We Know
The Ponytail Killer, as the name implies, preys on people who wear their hair in a ponytail, regardless of gender. The first time the Ponytail Killer appeared was in the “Pornscape” episode of season 1, when they briefly attacked Jessi until she let her hair down.
The murderer then turned their attention to a man who was later discovered in a dumpster and had a ponytail, a reference to the late Karl Lagerfeld.
In the “Smooch or Share” episode of season 2, the murderer made a reappearance, driving their vehicle—which, incidentally, had a ponytail hanging from the rearview window—and veering off the road to avoid colliding with Coach Steve.
Then the trunk opened, and a woman rushed out and fled, her mouth gagged and her hands tied.
Who Certainly Isn’t the Ponytail Killer?
Coach Steve was the initial suspect because he knew the victims from the police station photos, but he was later ruled out when the body in the garbage was discovered while he was being held.
Andrew was the next suspect because his DNA was discovered throughout the dumpster; however, this was because he threw out all of the socks he used for masturbation. The cops returned to their starting point after Andrew was freed.
There are still a lot of other personalities to take into account, even though Coach Steve, Andrew, and the other children have been ruled out as suspects.
Who Might Be the Killer of the Ponytail?
Given their criminal proclivities and enjoyment of hurting others, it would be safe to assume that either Val or Kurt Bilzerian—or even both—is the Ponytail Killer. Guy Bilzerian, their father, is also a suspect and could get away with it because he is a successful but dishonest lawyer.
Nonetheless, there is sufficient proof to suggest that Leore, the son of Rabbi Paulblart, is the Ponytail Killer.
When Jessi’s father moved into Guy Bilzerian’s condo in season two of “Guy Town,” Leore made an appearance. He lived in the same flat as Leore, who was hiding in a closet with a wig-wearing dog mannequin and a framed picture of a pony.
After that, Marty brought up Leore’s “failed wigs for religious dogs business,” leading many viewers to assume that’s what he did with his victims’ ponytails. Some have even gone so far as to draw a comparison between Leore’s facial shape and the killer’s shadow, which can be seen in the previously mentioned automobile scene.
Unless they choose to deceive viewers, it’s conceivable that Big Mouth will eventually reveal the killer’s identity because it has been renewed through season 6. Leore remains the primary suspect until then, but other characters shouldn’t be discounted just yet.
