Who is Austin’s Dad in Ginny and Georgia? The Mystery Behind His Identity!
Would you believe us if we told you that Georgia Miller (Brianne Howey) had another new man in town? Ginny & Georgia Season 2 is now available on Netflix.
Indeed! The rumors are accurate. Along with Joe (Raymond Ablack), Zion (Nathan Mitchell), and Mayor Paul Randolph (Scott Porter), Gil Timmons (Aaron Ashmore) also joins, or rather reenters, the lives of Austin (Diesel La Torraca), Ginny (Antonia Gentry), and Georgia. To put it mildly, his presence is complicated.
More Ginny & Georgia flashbacks help us understand Gil’s past with Georgia, or G as he calls her, his current activities in town, and how his presence jeopardizes the secure existence Georgia and the children are attempting to establish in Wellsbury, Massachusetts.

Who is Gil Timmons on Ginny & Georgia And Why was Gil Arrested?
Austin’s biological father, Gil Timmons (Aaron Ashmore), was incarcerated until Season 2 when he was released. He makes his initial appearance in Season 2, Episode 5, “Latkes Are Lit,” when he unexpectedly stops by Austin’s school to say hello.
He later reappears in Episode 6, “A Very Merry Ginny & Georgia Christmas Special,” to reveal his plans. Gil interrupts the holiday festivities by knocking on the door while Georgia and the family are exchanging Christmas presents.
He remembers the kids’ early years, sends gifts for Austin, Ginny, and Georgia, and makes it apparent that he intends to be more active in his son’s life now that he is not incarcerated.
Although the reason and manner of Gil’s incarceration are originally unknown, we learn about his meeting, love affair, abuse, and eventual betrayal by Georgia through a sequence of flashbacks, in which actor Ben Caldwell plays young Gil.
We find out that Georgia previously had a sincere love for Gil, but she had plans to leave him and flee with Ginny as he began to abuse her physically and mentally. The situation became more complicated when she found out she was expecting Austin, so she chose to steal money from Gil’s business and set him up, which led to his termination and arrest.
In Episode 7, Gil says he wants to see more of his son and asks Georgia if he may take Austin to a hockey game. In an attempt to get Georgia to agree to the hockey game, Gil unexpectedly (again!) shows up at Austin’s school later that day while Georgia is picking him up and gives him two tickets. He even forces Austin to ask her for money for snacks.
Oh no! Gil meets Cynthia when he visits the Blue Farm Cafe later in the episode. Cynthia says she works in real estate and offers to help him find a place when he tells her he would want to stay in town but is having trouble finding an apartment and that Georgia doesn’t like him and supposedly set him up for embezzlement.
When Gil returns to the Blue Farm Cafe in Episode 8 to visit Georgia, Joe tells Cynthia that he doesn’t like Gil and believes Georgia needs assistance, which makes Cynthia suspicious. In the next episode, Gils sits Georgia down and informs her that he is applying to flats in the city.
He then threatens to reveal her previous secrets to Paul unless she permits him to date Austin and provides him with financial support.
Later in the episode, Gil approaches Georgia once more at Austin’s school, but Cynthia saves her. Because Cynthia will no longer assist Gil in finding an apartment, Gil arrives at Georgia’s place that evening furious.
Ginny and Austin hurry downstairs to assist their mother after he accuses Georgia of ruining his chance to get housing, yells at her, and slams her against a table. Gil is shot in the arm by Austin, who discovered the gun concealed in Georgia’s room.
The four of them gather themselves and tidy up the scene before Paul returns home. Ginny and Austin finally get why their mother made some of the decisions she did in the past once they saw how Gil treated her.
Georgia chooses to inform Paul about her criminal history before Gil has a chance to do so in the Season 2 finale, and Paul departs in a panic to process the information. Paul asks Georgia to meet him at the office via text the next morning.
Before choosing to go visit him and accept responsibility for her past rather than fleeing, Georgia states, “It’s possible that he’s waiting with police to arrest me and simply doesn’t want to do it in front of you guys.”

When she gets to the office, she sees Paul, a police officer, and Paul’s lawyer. When Gil arrives, she thinks she’s going to be arrested, but then things change.
“Gil, I requested you to come here so I could inform you that your actions have become harassment. Paul says, “You are a convicted felon. I just need to call your parole officer, and you’ll be sent back to prison.”
Paul silences Gil as he tries to explain that Georgia isn’t who she claims to be and that he will battle for Austin’s custody. “You must use me going forward if you wish to see my stepson or communicate with my wife.”
Paul claims that even though he is still furious with Georgia, he cannot imagine living without her. After sharing a kiss, Georgia hurries home to inform Ginny that Paul is still interested in getting married.
Who Portrays Gil Timmons, Austin’s father, on Ginny & Georgia?
As previously mentioned, Aaron Ashmore, a 43-year-old Canadian actor who began his career in 1991 and has acted in several successful TV series and films over the years, plays Gil on Ginny & Georgia.
The actor’s credits on his IMDb page include Private Practice, Veronica Mars, The West Wing, and more.
Ashmore’s roles as Jimmy Olsen on Smallville and Duncan Locke on Locke & Key are well-known, but if you can’t help but feel like you’ve seen him in previous roles, that counts. Why? because Shawn Ashmore, Aaron’s twin brother, is an actor as well.
Shawn Ashmore has starred in a number of films throughout the years, including Guitarman, Animorphs, X-Men, Smallville, The Conviction, and The Boys.
His roles as Brad on Cadet Kelly, Mike Weston on The Following, and Wesley Evers on The Rookie have made him famous. In case you were wondering, Shawn was born one minute after Aaron.
