The Mentalist Season 8 Plot
The Mentalist is a drama/thriller show about a “psychic” named Patrick Jane, played by Simon Baker. Patrick is an independent CBI consultant who uses his psychic skills to help CBI agents in Sacramento, California, solve murders.

When the FBI shuts down the CBI in the middle of season six, the Red John story is solved. The show then goes in a different direction for the next one and a half seasons and introduces some new characters.
Bruno Heller who was in charge of making The Mentalist, wanted to do something new and prove himself in the Hollywood business.
CBS also wanted a show to go with NCIS, and Heller gave the network exactly what it wanted. Bruno Heller says that the main character is a mix of Sherlock Holmes and a street psychic. He is part detective who helps people and part con artist who tells lies.

From what I found when I searched the web, it looks like The Mentalist Season 8 isn’t likely to happen. The show finished with Season 7 in 2015, and neither the people who made it nor the people who were in it have shown any interest in bringing it back.
Patrick Jane, a former psychic who helped find the serial killer, Red John, had a happy finish to his story. He married his co-worker and love interest, Teresa Lisbon, and they had a child together.
Fans of the show might still want it to come back, but it’s not likely. Most likely, The Mentalist Season 8 will never come out.
