The Great Season 3: Hulu finally set a premiere date for the upcoming season of The Great, more than a year after.

The Great Season 3
The Great is a historical drama about Catherine, a young woman who marries the Russian emperor Peter. It was originally billed as a “partially true story” and later as “almost entirely fictitious.”
Catherine attempts and ultimately succeeds in seizing control of Russia from Peter in Season 2 with the aid of army general Velementov (Douglas Hodge), bureaucrat Orlo (Sacha Dhawan), and noble-turned-maid-turned-noble Marial (Phoebe Fox).
Catherine began to settle into her new position as empress over the course of the season, but she encountered considerable opposition from nearly all sides, particularly from the group of Peter-loyal nobles. In addition, she realized how little she understood Russia.
Despite this, she continued to learn and work to open the Russians’ minds to a more progressive future. She also gave birth!
The Great Season 3 Release Date
Hulu announced that the third season of The Great will premiere on its streaming service with all ten episodes on Friday, May 12, 2023(Source: vitalthrills.com).
The Great Season 3 Plot
The plot of The Great season 3 is currently unknown, but thanks to crew comments and the cliffhanger ending of season 2, we have a good idea of what our favorite monarch will be doing in the future.
At the conclusion of season 2, we witnessed the culmination of numerous murders, tears, and complicated relationships.
Catherine’s diplomatic solutions result in her murdering the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire and placing her under intense pressure to murder her dethroned husband, Peter.
In the ongoing struggle for the throne, Peter found himself in a similarly sticky situation. The imprisoned king was forced to choose between his survival and his heart, and the treacherous ex-king of Sweden explained how he must murder Catherine in order to live in peace.
It appears that the husband and wife are engaged in yet another civil war. This time, however, they have invested feelings and affection for one another; it’s all quite spicy, wouldn’t you say?
In the final episode of the second season, Catherine decided to solidify her rule by stabbing Peter in the back while sobbing. It turns out, however, that she murdered a lookalike instead of her actual husband (oops).
Peter came out to console her upon seeing her remorse; however, they were both left in the awkward position of realizing that despite their love for one another, they both wanted to kill the other.
Peter will continue to demonstrate that he is a changed man who loves his wife and son, Paul. Season 3 will likely see the two attempting to find a living arrangement that allows them to coexist.
Catharine was nearly drowned by the power-crazed monster we all witnessed in the first season.
Tony McNamara, the show’s creator, discussed the show’s future with Entertainment Weekly. “Everyone ends the [second] season in a drastically different place.
The third season focuses heavily on the court, Catherine’s next level of leadership, and Peter deciding what kind of man he will ultimately become.
Along with Peter and Catherine’s future dramas, her best friend Marial’s fate will likely play out. The Queen imprisoned Marial after she exposed Peter for sleeping with Catherine’s mother Joanna and then accidentally killing her.
How will they reconcile now that Catherine’s love for Peter is undeniable? Time alone will tell.
Archie, the archbishop with a penchant for debauchery, is still struggling to find his faith, and war is likely to escalate due to Catherine’s actions with the Sultan.
It appears that each of The Great season 3’s ten episodes will be jam-packed with content, drama, and tension.
Whatever the new plot of the upcoming season may be, we also know that Catherine’s story will continue. In 2020, executive producer Marian Macgowan told Decider that at least three more seasons are possible after the upcoming installment.
“We originally proposed six seasons,” she said. Therefore, we believe there is enough material to last until Catherine is an old woman.
