Early Life
Nyjah James Huston was born in Davis, Calif., on November 30, 1994. Huston grew up with four siblings in a Rastafarian and vegan home. From a young age, he was taught at home. Huston’s dad also pushed Nyjah to skateboard and made sure he did it every day from the time he was five years old. Nyjah later said that his father had a lot of power over him.
After his parents bought an indoor skatepark for him, Nyjah spent most of his time skating. Nyjah had already been sponsored by the skateboard company Element at this point. When his father decided out of the blue to move the whole family to Puerto Rico, all of Nyjah’s sponsorship deals ended.
Nyjah’s mother eventually got a divorce from his father and won custody of him, so he could move back to California and get back to skateboarding. Today, Huston says that he is no longer a Rastafarite.

Career of Nyjah Huston
Nyjah became well-known when he got a deal with Element Skateboards and joined their team. In his first year, he was in a lot of videos from the Elementality series. In the Dew Tour and the Vans Downtown Showdown, he was a tough competitor. After ending his partnership with Element in 2008, he started his own skateboard deck company, I&I, in 2009.
