Early Life of NLE Choppa
NLE Choppa was born on November 1, 2002, on the east side of Memphis, Tennessee, United States. His birth name was Bryson Lashun Potts. Choppa’s mother is a businesswoman named Angela Ellis Potts. She seems to play a big role in his life. NLE also wrote a song called “2Pac Dear Mama” which was about his mother.
Angela, his mother, went on to become his manager. His real name is Bryson Lashun Potts, but he later changed it to NLE, which stands for “No Love Entertainment.”
NLE Choppa went to Memphis’s Cordova High School for his last year of school. When he was young, basketball was his first love, and he loved to play as much as he could. Choppa started freestyling with his friends when he was 14, but a year later he decided to take music more seriously. At age 15, he released a song called “No Love Anthem” under the name YNR Choppa.

NLE Choppa’s first mixtape, “No Love the Takeove,” came out on July 22, 2018. When he was in the single “No Chorus Pt. 3,” he started getting some attention. In January 2019, Choppa released the song “Shotta Flow,” which became a big hit and took him to the next level in his career.
Later, he made the official video for that song and put it on YouTube. In less than a month, 10 million people had watched it. Even better, that hit song got as high as #36 on the Billboard Hot 100. After that much success, he released a sequel to the song called “Shotta Flow 2” a month later. In two months, the music video for that song got 20 million views on YouTube.
In the same year, NLE Choppa performed the song at his first music festival, the Beale Street Music Festival. He got a lot of praise for how well he did. Then he came out with another hit song called “Free YoungBoy,” whose official video has been watched over 27 million times on YouTube. Choppa’s first EP, “Cottonwood,” came out in December 2019.
Then, in August 2020, he released his first studio album, Top Shotta, which was ranked #10 on the US Billboard 200. The hit singles “Camelot” and “Walk Em Down” with Roddy Ricch are both on that album. From Dark to Light, Choppa’s second mixtape will come out in November 2020.
