‘Night Swim’ Release Date, Cast, and All the Spooky Details of the Haunted Swimming Pool Movie!

At some point, every child has experienced an unreasonable fear of sharks or other nefarious animals that lurk in the deep end of the pool after dark. Humans are particularly susceptible in the water because, in addition to having few clothing layers to shield them from the elements, their swimming speed and underwater breath-holding ability vary greatly.

In 1990, Tom Jager set a record for the fastest human swimming speed when he swam a 50-meter freestyle at a pace of 2.29 meters per second. Olympic medallist Michael Phelps just blew this out of the water, clocking in at a pace of 6. miles per hour, or 2.68 meters per second, with an average race speed of about 4.5 miles per hour. Remember that the typical swimmer can only go about two miles per hour in the water.

In comparison, the typical swimming speed of a predatory land animal, such as a bear, is approximately six miles per hour. Phelps only attained those speeds during specific periods throughout the height of his career.

With an average speed of approximately 25 miles per hour, great white sharks put even Olympic swimmers at a significant disadvantage when they find themselves in the same water as one of these predators. But what happens if it’s not a shark or a bear? What is the formula for calculating the speed at which supernatural beings swim?

Night Swim, which is based on the same-titled short film from 2014, captures all of these ideas (as well as terrifying “fun facts”) about how exposed people may be to water, even in chlorinated swimming pools.

Producing the full-length version under their respective Atomic Monster and Blumhouse Productions labels are horror luminaries James Wan and Jason Blum. Not long after, Universal Pictures obtained the distribution rights.

The release date has been pushed up to January 5, 2024, from January 19, 2024, which was the original plan. The movie will have a limited theatrical run and the honor of being the first one of the year to hit theaters.

Ray Waller moves into a new home with his worried wife Eve (Kerry Condon, Banshees of Inisherin, an Oscar® nominee), teenage daughter Izzy (Amélie Hoeferle, this fall’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes), and young son Elliot (Gavin Warren, Fear the Walking Dead).

Ray convinces Eve that the new home’s glistening backyard swimming pool will be enjoyable for the kids and serve as physical treatment for him, all the while secretly hoping against all odds to return to professional ball. However, a sinister secret from the house’s past will let loose a terrible power that will suck the family into an unstoppable nightmare.

Though it’s uncertain how closely Night Swim will adhere to the original short film’s plot, given that Bryce McGuire is directing the adaptation, it’s likely to take the same ideas and delve deeper into them. In the short film Night Swim, Megalyn Echikunwoke plays a young woman who, while waiting for her partner to get home from work, decides to take a dip in her backyard inground pool. She turns on calming music and begins to complete her laps as a way to unwind after her day.

She sees a tall, dark person standing by the pool’s edge while submerged. She comes out to greet him, thinking it’s her boyfriend, but no one is there. She is confused and decides to dive back beneath the water to see if she saw someone or if the water displacement tricked her.

She then spots the same dark figure getting ready to jump into the pool. She swims to the edge of the pool to catch her breath after swiftly submerging herself once more and notices the figure approaching her cautiously. The pool lights go out as she swims backward, away from the shadow, and she is pulled beneath the surface by an invisible force.
