Natalie proudly graduated from Searsport District High School in 1972. She wanted to learn more, so she went to the University of Maine, where she studied hard and got a bachelor’s degree. But what would really shape her future was how strongly she was drawn to the world of television.
Natalie’s lively personality and desire to try new things led her to co-found the popular radio station WKSQ, which is also known as “Kiss 94 FM.” With her unwavering commitment and contagious excitement, she took the station to great heights, capturing the attention of viewers and building strong ties with the community.
This success made her even more ambitious, and she went on to co-own five more radio stations, including the well-known WNSX, which locals call “Star 97.7,” in the Ellsworth area. Natalie’s impact on broadcasting became clear as she changed the lives of many people through the power of the radio.

Natalie’s parents, Charles Knox and Grace (Brown) Knox, had her on October 7, 1954, in Belfast. She was happy to be a member of the Searsport District High School class of 1972, and she went on to get a bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Maine.
Natalie co-founded the popular radio station WKSQ (“Kiss 94 FM”) in 1982. She became a co-owner of five more radio stations, including the well-known WNSX (“Star 97.7”) in the Ellsworth area, because she loved broadcasting so much.
Natalie’s influence was much bigger than just her successful job. She was very active in her community and gave her time and skills to many different groups. Natalie was on the board of directors for the Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and helped the Woodlawn Museum grow.

Mark Osborne, her lifelong friend and business partner, and his fiancée Gretchen Wilson of Ellsworth were very important to her. So were Mark’s children Dallas Phillips and his wife Kalli of Brunswick, Justin Phillips and his wife Britti of Buxton, Sara Casper and her husband Brandon of Lisbon Falls, and Hannah Kincaid and her fiancé Zackary Pickering of West Bath.

Natalie’s journey would not have been the same without her friend Deb McFarland of Lamoine, who was always there for her and helped her a lot during her fight against cancer. Natalie’s loving parents passed away before she was born.
On June 27 from 4 to 6 p.m., people can stop by Jordan-Fernald, which is at 113 Franklin St. in Ellsworth. On June 28 at 11 a.m., there will be a burial service at Searsport First Congregational Church. The body will then be put to rest at Searsport’s Mt. Hope Cemetery.
