Millie Bobby Brown Says She and David Harbour Are “United” After ‘Stranger Things’ Bullying Allegations

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown has addressed reports of alleged on-set tension with co-star David Harbour, saying the pair remain “united” despite recent tabloid claims of bullying and harassment during production of the hit Netflix series.

The controversy emerged after a Daily Mail report alleged that Brown, 21, had accused Harbour, 49, of inappropriate behavior on set, prompting an internal Netflix investigation that lasted “months.” The outlet claimed Brown was later accompanied by a personal assistant whenever filming scenes with the Hellboy and Avengers: Doomsday actor.

No sexual misconduct allegations were made, but the story arrived at a sensitive time for Harbour, who is currently in the midst of a public divorce from singer Lily Allen. Some sources suggested that Allen’s team may have leaked the report ahead of the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere.

Millie Bobby Brown: “We’ve Always Been United”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Brown downplayed the claims, emphasizing her decade-long bond with Harbour, who plays her on-screen father figure, Jim Hopper.

“We’ve been doing that for the last 10 years,” Brown said when asked why she and Harbour made a show of solidarity at a recent red-carpet event. “We have always been united in that. We love this show with everything, and we value our friendship more than anything.”

Brown added that working with Harbour on the show’s final season was both “nostalgic” and “exciting.”

“It reminded me so much of Season 2 and 3, where we’re both kind of butting heads — she’s growing up, trying to find her own voice, and he’s trying to parent,” she explained. “That dynamic definitely comes back into play once again. I think some of people’s favorite Stranger Things moments are between Eleven and Hopper.”

Creators Defend Cast and Crew

Stranger Things co-creator Ross Duffer also addressed the controversy without directly confirming the details.

“Obviously, you understand I can’t get into personal on-set matters,” Duffer said. “But we’ve been doing this for 10 years with this cast, and at this point, they’re family. Nothing matters more than having a set where everyone feels safe and happy.”

Executive producer Shawn Levy echoed that sentiment, saying the show’s production has always prioritized a respectful and professional environment.

“You have to create a workplace where everyone feels comfortable and safe, and we’re proud of the environment we’ve built,” Levy said. “I’ve read a bunch of stories — some are wildly inaccurate. But the truth is, we treat this crew and cast like family, and that’s always been the bedrock.”

Season 5 Brings Eleven and Hopper Back Together

Brown and Harbour share several pivotal scenes in the four-episode Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1, which premiered on November 26.

While reports of tension briefly overshadowed the show’s debut, both stars appear focused on celebrating their final season together. Their reunion on screen — as Eleven and Hopper navigate a new chapter in Hawkins — marks a full-circle moment for the duo who have grown up, and grown closer, over nearly a decade.

“It was so nice to come back together,” Brown said. “This show changed our lives, and we’re proud of what we’ve built together.”
