At first, the two men appear to be on an equal footing, but John soon wins out. As a result, he leaves Cassian seated in the subway vehicle after stabbing him in the chest with a knife. Cassian may be able to receive treatment for the wound and have a chance of surviving if he chooses to keep the knife in, however this is not made clear in the film.

In John Wick 3 or 4, Cassian Did Not Make a Comeback
The sequels did not provide a definitive answer to Cassian’s fate. Neither John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum nor John Wick: Chapter 4 included Common as the character again. Cassian’s absence was not surprising because it was confirmed in the months leading up to the John Wick 2 sequel.
If Cassian had survived, it would have been very challenging for him to make an appearance in the film. With John Wick 3 starting just after John Wick 2, the John Wick timeline is horribly shortened. Less than a year had passed since John Wick’s near-death experience when John Wick 4 was released.
Because there isn’t much time between the films, Cassian wouldn’t fit in with either John Wick 3 or John Wick 4. At the time of both films, he should still be recuperating from his own wounds.
Cassian would not be able to recover fully from a knife wound to the heart this fast. Accordingly, it was ideal for the series to exclude Cassian from the immediate sequels in order to avoid doing anything overly implausible, even if he did not die in John Wick: Chapter 2.
It’s Possible That John Wick 5 Will Verify Cassian’s Status
It’s possible that the franchise will ultimately reveal Cassian’s existence in John Wick 5. It seems probable that the upcoming episode of the series will occur far enough in the timeline for Common’s character to fully recover.
By doing this, John Wick 5 would be able to revive Cassian and transform him into a reflection of John Wick, who would also be making a comeback from a presumed death. The franchise may be able to offer Cassian and John Wick a new on-screen chemistry and relationship if we see them interact once more after all this time.
