Flowers’ brother was found dead at his home in Charleston, South Carolina, on January 30, 2023, just a few weeks before he turned 33. The young man was described as “full of life” in his obituary in the Charleston Post & Courier. Instead of flowers, the paper asked that payments be made to lymedisease.org.
Olivia Flowers of “Southern Charm” revealed how her brother, Conner Flowers, fought Lyme illness for over two decades before passing away in January at the age of 32. “My brother suffered from this insidious disease for his entire adult life,” Olivia, 31, said in the caption of an Instagram image on Tuesday.
Conner kept his “struggles” with cancer “very private,” according to the Bravolebrity, but she and her family “saw the toll it took on his life trying to navigate the debilitating symptoms over the last 17 years.”
As a result of how “complex and incredibly difficult” it is to diagnose, her older sibling endured “numerous misdiagnoses and unnecessary medicinal treatment at a young age.”
Olivia, 31, continued, “By the time he was properly tested and given a diagnosis by infectious disease specialist Dr. Jemsek, a Godsend, the disease had caused severe internal damage, and the consequences of his earlier ‘treatment’ were just as long-lasting and devastating.”
During May, which is Lyme Disease Awareness Month, the “We Follow You” actress wrote the post to “honor” her sibling and “help others avoid the same struggles brought on by Lyme disease that he endured.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is a “illness caused by borrelia bacteria,” and humans normally catch it via the “bite of a tick carrying the bacteria.” The reality TV star didn’t say if her brother died because of Lyme disease or because of the earlier treatments.

Olivia wrote a message to him on Instagram not long after he passed away. In February, she wrote, “What a blessing it has been to be the sister of such a beautiful, kind-hearted person with a voice to match.”
“Without you, I don’t know what this life will be like. We’ve always been together. I can only hope that people will always call me “Conner’s little sister.” Olivia has spent the last few months shooting Season 9 of the popular Bravo show with her ex-boyfriend Austen Kroll and a group of their other friends.
Conner Flowers’ death will most likely be addressed in “Southern Charm” season 9 because the program was in production at the time.
Flowers said that she was under an “emotional blackout” for the second half of the season on her podcast “Scheananigans With Scheana Shay.” Flowers said that she would record full sequences and then return home with no recollection of what she had said or done.
