Marvel’s Next Spectacle: Avengers 5 Release Date, Star-Studded Cast, and Riveting Plot

Avengers 5 Release Date: With Avengers 5, which comes out in 2026, the Avengers will be back on the big screen for the first time since Avengers: Endgame.

There aren’t many concrete story details available yet, but Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton’s Avengers 5 looks like it will be the biggest crossover event in MCU history, with thousands of very powerful bad guys going up against the most heroes ever brought together in one project. There’s no doubt that someone will die.

The legal problems with Jonathan Majors have made things more difficult for Avengers 5. On December 18, 2023, Majors was found guilty of two misdemeanor counts of harassment and assault.

As soon as that happened, news spread that the MCU was no longer working with the actor and that Avengers: The Kang Dynasty would now be known as Avengers 5. For now, though, Marvel still plans to make the movie.

What’s New With Avengers 5

In addition to the report that the MCU was dropping Majors and the Kang Dynasty title, the most recent news about the movie came out on November 15, 2023: the director of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty quit, which made things more difficult for the project for the time being.

Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in Phase 4, is reportedly in talks with Marvel to direct something else instead of Avengers 5.

This means that the movie doesn’t have a director yet. So, when a new director takes over, the final cut of Avengers 5 will likely look different from what it might have looked like before.

When Will Avengers 5 Come Out?

The original date for the release of Avengers 5 was May 2, 2025. However, Marvel changed the date to May 1, 2026. As long as things stay the same, it will come after The Fantastic Four’s first movie at the start of Phase 6 of the MCU.

The Story Of Avengers 5

In a strict sense, Avengers 5 and Avengers: Secret Wars should be the end of the Multiverse Saga. They should bring together the threads left over from different MCU multiverse stories for a big showdown with the Council of Kangs if the MCU decides to keep with the character even after splitting up with Jonathan Majors.

Since Secret Wars was announced and the original comic book storyline was linked to the multiverse and incursions, Avengers 5 shouldn’t be an ending but rather a buildup that sets up the real villain (or villains) of Avengers 6.

If Avengers 5 sticks to what it planned before things went wrong in real life, it will deliver on the threat of the Council of Kangs that was hinted at in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantum Mania during the credits.

In the comics, the Council of Kangs comes together as a trick by Immortus to start a war across multiple universes that he will win. It looks like the Kangs will really work together in the MCU to take over the Multiverse and put the Sacred Timeline in danger.

The New Avengers will likely work together to fight the many versions of Kang that were shown in the coliseum at the end of Quantum Mania. This will likely be a much bigger war than the final battle in Endgame.

Who Is In Avengers 5?

As of now, there are no confirmed actors for Avengers 5. Jonathan Majors was the only person who was previously known to be in the movie, but the MCU is said to have dropped him, so the movie does not have any clear actors.

Kang and all of his different forms could still be in the movie, though, if Marvel decides to recast Kang and all of his different forms.

All the different kinds of Kang that might still show up in Avengers 5:

  • Immortus, The Once & Future Kang
  • Rama-Tut
  • Scarlet Centurion
  • Mister Gryphon (the suit-wearing Kang in Quantumania)
  • Reptilian Kang the Conqueror
  • Victor Timely (if he survives Loki season 2)
  • Thousands of Nameless Kang variants

Because the Council of Kangs could have any level of power you can think of, that’s a pretty bad profile for a bad guy. That means Avengers 5 needs an Avengers team to go with it.

The New Avengers lineup for Phase 6 hasn’t been announced yet, but we have a good idea of who will be in it. First, the new Fantastic Four will likely show up; their movie comes out right before Avengers 5.

Then, the Avengers who are still in the MCU should join them. There is a long list of the most likely candidates.

It was directed by Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton. The project has been slowed down by problems with Jonathan Majors, who was found guilty of assault and harassment.

The movie was supposed to come out on May 2, 2025, but Marvel moved the date to May 1, 2026. People are hoping that the movie will live up to the Council of Kangs’ threat.
