LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Aaron Spears, who beat out other drummers for Usher and most recently played with Ariana Grande, died at the age of 47.
His wife Jessica told everyone on Instagram that he had died, but she didn’t say why. As word spread that Spears had died, Ariana Grande and other famous people paid tribute to him on social media, calling him a “skilled and kind person.”
Jessica Spears, Aaron Spears’s Wife, Posts a Sad Message on Social Media
Aaron and Jessica got married 11 years ago and have a son together called August. Jessica wrote a sad message on Instagram.
She said, “It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that I share the news of the passing of my beloved husband, Aaron Spears.”
She said, “Aaron was not only an incredibly accomplished drummer and was admired by many for his unparalleled talent and passion for music, but he was also a devoted father to our precious son, August.”
Jessica said, “His love, guidance, and warmth were the pillars of our family, and his absence leaves a void that words cannot describe.”
“We are blessed to have him in our lives, his legacy will live on through the beautiful rhythms he created and the love he shared with us,” she said.
Ariana Grande Says Nice Things About Aaron Spears
Ariana Grande has had Aaron as her drummer since 2013 and posted on Jessica’s post to show her support. “Broken in heart,” she wrote. I’m sorry for your loss. I’m sorry and I love you all. I’m here for you in spirit.”
There was also an Instagram story with a picture of Aaron from the “Break Free” singer.
“This makes no sense to me.” Aaron made all of us so lucky to know him. “The very brightest light of a person,” she wrote next to his picture.
“Always the kindest, always smiling, I am so honored and thankful that our paths crossed and to have spent so much very special time together,” she added.
“Thank you for always being kind, for being so smart, and for making us laugh.” I will miss the way you hugged me. “You are loved so much and will be missed so much,” she said.
Aaron Spears Became Well-known as a Skilled Drummer
According to Music Radar, Aaron Spears grew up in Washington, DC. He learned how to play the drums in real life by going to church from a young age. Valdez Brantley, who is the musical director for R&B star Usher, caught Spears’ attention after she joined the Gideon Band in Washington, DC.
Aaron Spears was up for a Grammy in 2004 for his work on Usher’s number-one song, “Confessions.” Cher, Miley Cyrus, Usher, Jordin Sparks, Chaka Khan, Adam Lambert, Mary Mary, The Backstreet Boys, and Britney Spears were some of the artists she worked with.
Spears played drums for Ariana Grande on her “Dangerous Woman” tour in 2017. That tour included the sad show on May 22 where the bomb went off in Manchester. Aaron Spears said it was the “best year of my life” on his birthday just days before he died.
A few days ago, on October 26, Aaron Spears had his birthday party. At the time, he wrote on Instagram, “My heart is full of more gratitude and I’m more focused on the things that are most important.”
He also said, “I love and appreciate all of your kindness to me, my gift, and my family…”This really has been one of the best years of my life.”
