Tyler Hoechlin was born in Corona, California, on September 11, 1987, to Lori and Don. He has an older sister named Carrie and two brothers named Travis and Tanner. Hoechlin’s ancestors came from Germany, Ireland, and Native America.

As a child, he loved to play baseball. He kept getting better while he was at Santiago High School. In 2004 and 2005, he played in the Area Code Games. After that, Hoechlin went to Arizona State University on a baseball scholarship.

He played infield there and made it to the College World Series. After a year at ASU, he moved on to the University of California, Irvine, where he played infield for the Anteaters.

Hoechlin put baseball ahead of other jobs because he wanted to make a living from it. So, he turned down a number of meetings and auditions.

He even turned down the part of Emmett Cullen in the “Twilight” movie series. But Hoechlin started going to more auditions after he pulled his hamstring in his junior year at UCI. He finally decided to become an actor full-time after listening to his coach’s advice.

Personal Life

Hoechlin has been in a lot of relationships with other people. Candice King, Ashlee Simpson, and Mackenzie Rosman were some of the first girls he dated. In 2010, Hoechlin started dating Rachele Brooke Smith, an actress, and dancer.

They broke up in 2012. After this, it was said that Hoechlin and his ”  ” co-star Jill Wagner were dating, since they spent time together in Hawaii and made a number of public appearances.

But both of them said they were not seeing each other. After that, Hoechlin started dating actress Brittany Snow.

Film Career

Hoechlin’s first role on screen was in the “Happy Haunting” segment of a “Disney Sing-Along Songs” video when he was 11 years old.

He was in the family movie “Family Tree” the following year. In the 2002 crime drama “Road to Perdition,” Hoechlin played the son of Tom Hanks’s gangster character Michael Sullivan, Michael Sullivan Jr.

He got the Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature Film by a Leading Young Actor for his work.

After taking a break from movies for six years, Hoechlin came back in 2008 with a leading role in the horror movie “Solstice.” After that, he was in “Open Gate” and “Hall Pass,” a comedy by the Farrelly brothers.

In 2016, Hoechlin played a baseball player in two very different movies: “Everybody Wants Some!!,” a college comedy by Richard Linklater, and “Undrafted,” a sports drama.

The next year, he was in “Stratton,” a British action thriller. In 2018, Hoechlin had one of his best years yet. He was in four movies.

They were the erotic drama sequel “Fifty Shades Freed,” the post-apocalyptic action horror film “The Domestics,” the romantic comedy “Then Came You,” and the biographical film “Bigger,” in which he played Canadian bodybuilder and businessman Joe Weider.

From 2016 to 2019, Hoechlin had a recurring role on the TV show “Supergirl” as Clark Kent and his alter ego, Superman.
