Despite being formally off-limits due to her relationship status, Gael and Nathan clicked right away. As Below Deck Med season 9 went on, they became closer and became each other’s main source of support on the Mustique.
Gael and Nathan seized the opportunity to try their romance as soon as it came up. They formed a strong bond that could withstand the drama of the ship.
Nathan & Gael Love Journey
From their very first days on board the Mustique, Gael and Nathan were flirting. Gael and Nathan had a near-hookup at the start of the season, which nearly destroyed their friendship, even though Gael had a boyfriend.

The distance became too much after they got back to their own homes. Gael and Nathan decided to take a break as their communication slowed. In addition, Gael claimed that Nathan had effectively ghosted his ex-girlfriend by starting a conversation with her during that period.
Are Nathan and Gael Still Together?
Gael and Nathan tried their romance again after splitting up after filming. Nathan hinted about their renewed romance on September 25, 2024, when he shared a picture of the two kissing with the message, “R3KINDL3D.”
Gael posted a picture of herself holding the hand of a man whose arm tattoos matched Nathan’s that same day. “Finders keepers” was the caption she posted. The two then behaved like a loving couple while Gael was in Nathan’s home country of Ireland in December 2024.
But the most unexpected development in Gael and Nathan’s romance occurred in 2025. The couple revealed they were having a child together in a joint Instagram post in April 2025. They also revealed that they were expecting a son at a gender reveal on the beach.

Although Nathan still lists “boats” in his Instagram account, it’s unclear what he does for a living these days. Gael presents herself as an instructor of PADI diving.
The bright spot of Below Deck Mediterranean season nine was the romance between Gael and Nathan. They are both adventurous, sincere, and really concerned about each other.
