‘Traitors’ Star Ruth Codd Shares Update After Second Leg Amputation, Says She Plans to Walk Again
Actor Ruth Codd, known for her breakout roles in Netflix’s The Fall of the House of Usher and The Celebrity Traitors, has shared a candid health update following her second below-the-knee amputation. The 29-year-old star revealed she is determined to walk again as she continues recovery in a wheelchair.
Codd Undergoes Second Amputation After Ongoing Health Struggles
Codd underwent surgery in November to remove the lower part of her left leg, adding to a previous right-leg below-the-knee amputation she had at age 23. The Irish actress has long been open about her complex medical history, which began at 15 after a football injury caused severe nerve damage, chronic pain, and long-term mobility challenges.
In a new social media post, Codd shared a photo from recovery — flipping off the camera with humor intact — and joked: “New legs loading.”
Staying Positive Through Recovery

The Netflix star updated fans with her trademark wit, announcing:
“World domination and winding up middle-aged white men shall resume as of 10am.”
Codd has kept fans in the loop throughout her recovery process. Last month, she shared on TikTok that she could no longer film her usual content upstairs at her parents’ home, explaining:
“I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation… so those facilities are not available to me at the moment.”
Despite the tough update, she kept her spirits high, referring to her wheelchair — nicknamed “Fat Tony” — as her “new whip” and joking about its slow speed.
A Journey Marked by Resilience
Codd first rose to prominence on The Celebrity Traitors, where she appeared as a Faithful contestant before being “murdered” in episode four by Alan Carr, Jonathan Ross, and Cat Burns. Unknown to viewers at the time, she had already undergone her first amputation and was managing significant pain during filming.
In past interviews, including a powerful conversation with Teen Vogue, Codd reflected on her journey with gratitude and strength.
“It made me a really resilient person,” she said. “I’m thankful for just being able to do simple things like walk around or ride my horse. It teaches you not to take things for granted.”
Fans Rally Behind the Actor
Following her latest surgery, Codd has received an outpouring of support online. She admitted the attention has left her “weirded out” but expressed deep appreciation for the kindness she’s been shown.
As she continues to heal, Codd says she is focused on adapting to her new reality — and eventually walking again with her prosthetics.
