Adam Shankman’s RuPaul-Led Action Comedy “STOP! THAT! TRAIN!” Sets Release Date for 2026

Get ready for glitter, chaos, and high-speed comedy: filmmaker Adam Shankman has officially titled his next project “STOP! THAT! TRAIN!”, a RuPaul-led action comedy arriving in North American theaters on May 29, 2026, via Bleecker Street.

The drag-fueled disaster flick, produced by World of Wonder, marks another crossover from the RuPaul’s Drag Race universe into the cinematic spotlight. The cast is packed with Drag Race favorites, including Ginger Minj, Jujubee, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Latrice Royale, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Monét X Change, and Symone — alongside RuPaul Charles as President Gagwell.

Plot and Production Details

The camp-filled adventure follows best friends Tess (Minj) and DeeDee (Jujubee), two weary train stewardesses who trade their dull shifts on the Stank Rail for the glamorous Glamazonian Express. Their upgrade takes a wild turn when a catastrophic weather event known as a “Stormganza” threatens to derail the high-speed journey.

Adam Shankman's RuPaul-Led Action Comedy Gets Title, Premiere Date

In true RuPaul fashion, chaos meets charisma as the duo teams up with a group of high-strung first-class attendants and the fabulous President Gagwell to save the day — and their wigs.

Filming wrapped earlier this year in Los Angeles, with Universal Pictures Content Group handling international distribution.

Shankman Promises a “Wild Ride”

Director Adam Shankman, known for hits like Hairspray and Rock of Ages, teased the film’s outrageous tone in a statement:

“I’ve had the greatest time shooting STOP! THAT! TRAIN! with some of the most hilarious and game people out there, and we can’t wait to bring it to audiences nationwide next May. I know I’ve needed to laugh now more than ever, and if you’re not howling during this one, you’re probably made of coal — and possibly related to the Grinch family!”

The screenplay comes from Connor Wright and Christina Friel, with Unapologetic Projects financing the film. Producers include Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles, and Adam Shankman himself.

Expanding the Drag Race Universe

With its over-the-top humor and colorful ensemble, STOP! THAT! TRAIN! expands the RuPaul’s Drag Race storytelling world into big-screen comedy territory. Shankman’s track record with musical comedy and RuPaul’s global appeal could make this one of 2026’s most talked-about comedies.
