Chadwick Boseman Honored With Posthumous Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
Los Angeles, CA — Friends, family, and fans gathered in Hollywood on Thursday to celebrate the late Chadwick Boseman, who was posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony was filled with emotional tributes from his colleagues, including Viola Davis, Ryan Coogler, and Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, the actor’s widow.
A Day to Remember
The event coincided with the city’s declaration of “Chadwick Boseman Day”, recognizing the legacy of the actor who brought depth, dignity, and inspiration to every role he played. Boseman, who died in 2020 at the age of 43 after a private battle with colon cancer, continues to be remembered for his extraordinary influence on film and culture.
Speaking through tears, Viola Davis, who co-starred with Boseman in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, reflected on his spiritual strength and unwavering purpose.
“I have to believe that Chadwick is still alive,” Davis said. “He was always searching for meaning — he left behind a light that guides all of us to do better.”
She described Boseman as a “mighty elixir” whose artistry and humanity transformed those around him.
Ryan Coogler Reflects on Friendship and Leadership

Ryan Coogler, the director of Black Panther, also spoke about Boseman’s character, recalling how his quiet confidence and dedication made him an inspiration both on and off set.
“When I think of Chadwick Boseman, I think of leadership, teaching, and generosity,” Coogler said. “He was an incredible leader — ageless in spirit, and full of purpose.”
He shared a story about Boseman’s determination to meet him during the early days of their collaboration, sneaking past press and other stars at a hotel to discuss what would become Black Panther.
“He smiled and said, ‘That was the Panther,’” Coogler remembered, drawing laughter from the audience.
A Legacy of Strength and Grace

Boseman’s widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman, delivered a moving tribute, highlighting his artistry, humility, and moral courage.
“Chad, today we recognize your lifetime of artistry,” she said. “You lived with honor and walked in truth. You were as brilliant as you were kind. We love you, we miss you, and we thank you.”
She was joined by Boseman’s brothers, Derrick and Kevin Boseman, to unveil the star — a moment met with thunderous applause and quiet tears from the crowd.
Honoring a Cinematic Icon
Chadwick Boseman’s film career spanned over two decades, portraying historical legends such as Jackie Robinson (42), James Brown (Get On Up), and Thurgood Marshall (Marshall), before achieving global fame as King T’Challa in Black Panther. His final performance in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom earned him a posthumous Academy Award nomination.
The new star joins those of other trailblazers on Hollywood Boulevard, a lasting tribute to an actor whose life and legacy continue to inspire millions.
