Netflix has secured a major win in the streaming wars, landing the highly sought-after A24-produced drama series “Trigger Point” starring Joel Edgerton. The project received a straight-to-series order, following a competitive bidding process among multiple platforms.
A High-Stakes Crime Thriller from Harrison Query
Created by Harrison Query, known for co-writing Heads of State and Paramount+’s Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey, Trigger Point is described as a gripping action crime drama. The eight-episode season will explore the dark world of elite soldiers-turned-criminals.
According to the official synopsis, the series follows “a group of former Tier One Special Forces operators who sell their elite skills to the criminal underworld behind the front of a private military contracting firm — and the FBI agent who’s hunting for them.”
Joel Edgerton Leads as ‘Red’
Edgerton, whose recent credits include Dark Matter on Apple TV+ and Train Dreams, takes on the lead role as Red, a former special forces operative drawn into the criminal underworld. His casting marks another major collaboration between Netflix and A24, two studios known for delivering prestige storytelling with broad audience appeal.
“Trigger Point combines high-stakes action with psychological intensity — a blend that’s become a signature of A24 storytelling,” Netflix said in a statement.
Behind the Camera: A24 and Jeremy Saulnier
The series will be directed by Jeremy Saulnier, acclaimed for Rebel Ridge and Green Room, bringing his trademark gritty realism and sharp tension to the show’s tone. Saulnier will also executive produce alongside Query, Joe Hipps, and Patrick Macdonald of Cut To Productions, which currently holds a first-look deal with A24.
