Yellowstone is the only original scripted show on the Paramount Network right now, but who needs another? The show has been a rating powerhouse. In 2021, it was the most-watched show on broadcast, cable, and premium TV, with an average of 11 million people watching each week.
Not surprisingly, Paramount Network has officially renewed the show for a fifth season and made guest stars Jen Landon (Teeter) and Kathryn Kelly (Emily) series regulars.
The modern-day Western debuted in 2018 as a sort of kickoff for the network’s rebranding. It used to be called Spike TV. The series is set in Montana and follows the ups and downs of the Dutton family, who run the largest cattle ranch in the U.S.

Taylor Sheridan wrote Yellowstone, which stars Kevin Costner as patriarch John Dutton. He and his family are trying to keep the ranch in the family, but they are having trouble with land developers, a nearby Indian reservation, and other enemies.
“Yellowstone continues to break records, with more than 11 million people watching the season finale,” said Chris McCarthy, president, and CEO of ViacomCBS Media Networks. “This shows we’ve hit a cultural nerve from the middle of the country to both coasts, and we still have a lot of room to grow on linear,” he added.
“Our plan to turn Yellowstone into a universe of series to help Paramount+ grow is already working better than expected. 1883 and Mayor of Kingstown are two of the best titles.”
If you want to know if there will be more spinoffs, Costner said on the red carpet at the 2022 Oscars, “I have no doubt there will be more spinoffs.
“I didn’t even know there were going to be spin-offs,” he said. “I just do what I need to do, hit my marks, and think, ‘Wow, this is going well.'”
Here’s what you need to know about season 5 of Yellowstone:
Who Will be in Yellowstone?
In Season 5, there will be both old and new faces at the ranch. Josh Lucas will come back as young John Dutton for the first time since Season 3. Kylie Rogers will play young Beth, and Kyle Red Silverstein will play young Rip, so it looks like there will be a lot of flashbacks.
Caroline Warner, played by Jacki Weaver, is also back. Mo Brings Plenty and Wendy Moniz are now regulars on the show as Mo and Governor Lynelle Perry, respectively.
There are also going to be four new people in Yellowstone. Kai Caster will be Rowdy, a young cowboy. Lainey Wilson is playing the role of Abby, a musician.
Lilli Kai will play Clara Brewer, a new assistant for one of the Duttons (we already feel bad for her), and 1883’s Dawn Olivieri will join the cast as Sarah Atwood, a “corporate shark” who just moved to Montana.
Don’t worry, because everyone will be back. Kevin Costner is playing John Dutton, Kelly Reilly is playing Beth, Luke Grimes is playing Kayce, Wes Bentley is playing Jamie, Cole Hauser is playing Rip, Kelsey Asbille is playing Monica, Brecken Merrill is playing Tate, Finn Little is playing Carter, and Gil Birmingham is playing Thomas Rainwater.
The whole bunkhouse will also be back, including Forrie Smith, Denim Richards, Ian Bohen, Ryan Bingham, and Jen Landon as Teeter, who has been promoted to a series regular.
Jimmy’s fiancee Emily, played by Kathryn Kelly, has also been promoted to a series regular. She will be back with Jefferson White, who plays Jimmy. So, even though the troublemaker chose the Four Sixes over Yellowstone, he or she will still be around in some way.
What Can We Expect from the Fifth Season of Yellowstone?
At the end of Season 4, Beth catches Jamie getting rid of Garrett’s body at the Train Station. This puts him in an awkward situation. By taking some bad pictures of him, she ends his political career for good. What will happen to Jamie because of this?
What about Christina and their son? Won’t she want to know where Garrett is? Now that his hopes of running for office have been crushed, will Jamie be able to get away from the Duttons, or will he just give up and do what they say?
Caroline fired Beth without any warning, so she is now out of work again. She may take over as her father’s campaign manager.
She is sure to keep making plans to hurt Caroline Warner and Market Equities. Will Warner follow through on what she said she would do to Beth and the Dutton land?
The results of Kayce’s vision quest are not what he had hoped for. Who was the woman who helped him understand his dream? Is it his unborn child, or is it someone else? Will he keep his job as livestock commissioner, or will he maybe run for governor as his father did?
Who will take over as sheriff? Will the new sheriff be someone the Duttons can count on?
Fans want to know if Carter will be able to get Beth to trust him again. We also wonder if Beth and Rip will ever take him in as their child. Will Beth give in and let him call her “Momma” at last?
Will Walker be able to leave the Yellowstone ranch for good next season, when Mia and Laramie are likely to be gone? (There are rumours that Bingham will be in the spinoff series, 6666.) Will the talk in the bunkhouse keep up?
Will they be able to settle the question of whether or not chilli has beans? Will we ever figure out what Teeter is trying to say?
We hope that the next season of Yellowstone will answer all of these questions and many more.
