Alvin Nathaniel Joiner was born on September 18, 1974, in the city of Detroit, Michigan, in the United States. He has four brothers and sisters. After his mother died when he was only 10, he went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, with his father.

At 14, Xzibit got into a lot of trouble, so his father kicked him out of the house. But Xzibit and his father had a fight, and he was already interested in rapping, so he chose to get some money and move to Los Angeles to become a rapper. His mother, who was a writer, gave Xzibit ideas for songs.

At the age of 14, Xzibit started making rap music under the name “Exhibit A.” In February 1995, he was able to record the song “Hit and Run” for The Alkaholiks and then “Free Style Ghetto” for IV Life.

In 1996, Xzibit got a contract with Loud Records and put out his first record, “At the Speed of Life.” After being kind of an underground artist in Los Angeles for a few years, things changed when he put out his second album, 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz, in 1998.
