Will Netflix Pick Up “Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities” for a Second Season?
In 2022, one of the Halloween films with the highest anticipation levels on Netflix was Cabinet of Curiosities, directed by Guillermo del Toro. It provided us with a week of thrills and chills. However, the most crucial item to consider is whether or not Cabinet of Curiosities will return to Netflix for a second season. We haven’t received any word as of yet, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we will very soon.
Netflix has had the most success with the original horror shows that it has produced on its own. On the other hand, there hasn’t always been nearly enough frightening content around Halloween. The terror that was required for the spooky season was provided by Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities. This was exactly what was required.
Since Love, Death, and Robots, this is easily one of the most impressive horror anthologies that we have watched on Netflix. Due to the fact that a new person directed each episode, each one was entertaining as well as terrifying in its own unique way.
Has Cabinet of Curiosities by Guillermo Del Toro Been Picked Up by Netflix?
At the time of this writing, Netflix has not decided to order a second season of the horror anthology that Guillermo del Toro created and executive produces. It is possible that Netflix will not let us know what will happen with the show for several weeks or even several months.
We are currently holding our breath in anticipation of the arrival of the first hourly top ten data so that we can evaluate how well the show performed over its first week on Netflix. However, before we can determine whether or not Netflix will continue airing the series, it will take a few more weeks for us to evaluate how well the show performed overall.
Should Cabinet of Curiosities Be Renewed by Netflix?
If it were a collection of short stories instead of a novel, Cabinet of Curiosities might have been adapted into a limited series. However, given how well received the animated anthology series Love, Death, and Robots has been, it is not surprising that Netflix would not wish to restrict the possibilities of the show by terminating it after a single season.
The fact that Cabinet of Curiosities was not billed as a limited series left the possibility open for the show to be extended for a second season. Due to the fact that the show is an anthology, however, Netflix could easily and unobtrusively close that door in the event that they choose not to renew their contract.
Should Netflix keep going? Definitely. The fact that viewers can pick and choose which episodes they enjoy more than others is a huge part of an anthology’s appeal as a viewing experience.
Because there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of short horror stories that have the potential to be transformed into movies, Guillermo del Toro and the directors he chooses will have a difficult time picking which ones to utilise in their anthology.
Would Guillermo Del Toro Want to Make a Second Season?
There has been no indication from Guillermo del Toro as to what the future holds for the collection of short stories he has written. Due to the fact that the director of Pan’s Labyrinth is quite busy, it is possible that we will not find out about any plans for a second season for a few months.
Del Toro is currently putting the finishing touches on an animated stop-motion rendition of Pinnochio that will be available on Netflix. In addition to that, he is contributing to the writing and production of the second film in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series.
In addition to that, he has been connected to an untitled western about werewolves that is in the works. And last but not least, he will serve as the director of an upcoming documentary about Michael Mann that has not yet been given a title.
Let’s just say that Guillermo del Toro is juggling a lot of different projects at the moment.
