Why Did Gojo Destroy Inverted Spear of Heaven?

The Inverted Spear of Heaven, a cursed weapon that initially surfaced when Toji Fushiguro first faced Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, is one of the few weapons that can actually negate Satoru Gojo’s coveted Limitless ability.

The spear is a Special Grade Cursed Tool, on par with Gojo’s own classification as a sorcerer. When paired with Toji Fushiguro’s own superhuman physical capabilities, it was able to inflict a fatal blow to the young prodigy of the Gojo clan before he reached his full potential.

Apart from the spear’s capacity to totally neutralize any cursed method, which makes it a crucial weapon against extremely powerful sorcerers, not much has been disclosed regarding its origins or underlying qualities.

It is highly adaptable in its uses and may be employed in a number of ways to get around strong cursed tactics at the Limitless level, as seen by Toji’s own fighting style with the sword. Ame no Sakahoko, another spear from Japanese mythology, is the inspiration for the weapon’s name and some of its design elements.

What Is The Inverted Spear Of Heaven?

The Inverted Spear of Heaven might appear to be just another cursed instrument on the surface. At first glance, it looks like a short dagger with a strangely formed blade that is divided into two parts, much like a jitte, which was frequently employed by police in Japan during the Edo Period.

The state of the third broken component is currently unknown, although it appears that the blade was originally composed of three branches in the shape of a trident. The ‘q’ shaped guard of the weapon extends from the handle in the direction of the longer of the two segments that now make up its blade.

The spear’s circular link at the end, which extends into a black handle with a cylindrical profile, enables it to be attached to metal link chains for use as a melee weapon at a greater distance.

The blade’s cursed method, which is based on a unique kind of foreign cursed energy that negates any and all cursed techniques it encounters, is its most intriguing feature aside from its simple design.

As a result, it instantly renders a target and a jujutsu technique inoperable when employed against them, making them open to physical assault.

The Ame no Sakahoko spear from Japanese mythology served as the inspiration for many parts of the weapon’s design and name. The spear is associated with Ninigi-no-Mikoto, Amaterasu’s grandson, and the twin Gods Izanami and Izanagi.

According to some accounts, the latter hit it near the top of Japan’s Mount Takachiho. According to legend, the spear was used as early as the Nara Period, and renowned samurai Sakamoto Ryoma is even credited with removing it from the earth.

A replica was erected in its place after the original blade was partially damaged in a volcanic explosion in 1913.

What Caused Gojo to Destroy the Inverted Spear of Heaven?

Why Did Gojo Destroy Inverted Spear of Heaven

When Satoru and Suguru Geto were escorting Riko Amanai to fuse with Tengen during the Star Plasma Vessel Escort Mission, the first battle between Toji Fushiguro and Satoru Gojo demonstrated the weapon’s nullification feature.

Usually, Toji stored the spear within his Inventory Curse, which had the ability to shrink its own body so that the “Sorcerer Killer” could swallow it and hide it. In this way, he always had the Inverted Spear of Heaven at his disposal, along with his whole set of cursed tools and a swarm of Fly Heads.

Toji used the Fly Heads to conceal his cursed energy, which allowed him to approach Gojo Satoru and get past his defenses during their battle. He swiftly got around the Limitless’ Infinity at close range and stabbed Gojo in the throat with the Inverted Spear of Heaven.

This rendered the Special Grade Sorcerer helpless for a considerable amount of time, allowing Toji to swiftly dispatch him. He then proceeded to use the blade to sever Gojo’s body and declare a resounding triumph.

Later, when Suguru Geto unleashed the Kuchisake-Onna curse on him, he wielded the blade once more and deflected every one of her scissor blades before they could cut him.

Toji Fushiguro attached the weapon to the Chain of a Thousand Miles, another Special Grade Cursed Tool, during his last fight with Gojo. This tool has an infinite length as long as one end is hidden.

To do this, he inserted the blade’s other end into the Inventory Curse. The weapon looked like a kusarigama in this configuration, and he tried to use its long reach to negate the Limitless’ Red and Blue skills.

Unfortunately for him, the awakened Limitless user used his clan’s secret Hollow Purple technique to swiftly terminate the fight, even after he had tried to hide the blade’s approach by throwing a significant amount of rubble in Gojo’s direction.

The spear was one of only two cursed weapons that might reverse the effects of Prison Realm and liberate Satoru Gojo later on in Jujutsu Kaisen. Since it was thought that Gojo had either destroyed it or sealed it overseas outside Tengen’s barrier to keep anybody from gaining the sole weapon that could realistically defeat him, its whereabouts and status were unknown at the time.
