Losing a family member must have been especially tough for the Chicago Fire Department because they are so close off-screen. Fans are wondering who the late staff member is after the Season 12 episode “Trapped” paid a heartfelt homage to Vivienne Marie. To learn more about Vivienne Marie, continue reading.
On January 17, 2024, NBC’s venerable procedural’s 12th season premiered with great fanfare. After a break from Season 11, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) is returning, and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) are getting married.
However, the season’s third episode concluded on a more depressing note, with a “in memory” card honoring a deceased crew member appearing just before the credits rolled.
Fans are naturally curious about the identity and fate of the crew member recognized, Vivienne Marie. Read more about Vivienne Marie below, including her involvement on Chicago Fire.
Was ‘Chicago Fire’ Starring Vivienne Marie?
Vivienne Marie did not appear in the Chicago Fire cast.
According to NBC, she instead served as a standby painter behind the scenes. She died a few weeks prior to the episode airing, which is the tragic reason the show honored her memory.
Although not much else is known about Vivienne, it is obvious that her passing will be missed by the show’s cast and staff.
Of course, each episode on screen explores themes of mortality, as cast member David Eigenberg, who plays Lt. Christopher Herrmann, stated in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“This show is about life and death, which we’ve seen a lot of here in Chicago,” he remarked. These are the actual risks that first responders deal with on a daily basis.
Several Members of the “Chicago Fire” Cast Have Passed Away in Real Life
Naturally, off-screen loss differs greatly from scripted loss.
The cast and crew of Chicago Fire are said to be incredibly tight, almost like a family, thus Vivienne isn’t the first member of the show’s family to die.
One Chicago Center claims that Molly Glynn, who portrayed an emergency room physician in several episodes, passed away in a strange accident. “While we were biking, Molly was struck by a falling tree,” her husband revealed.
Similarly, DuShon Monique Brown, who portrayed assistant Connie in nearly 60 episodes, had to be written off the program after passing away suddenly from a blood ailment.
Naturally, there was also Treat Williams, who portrayed Kelly’s father, Benny Severide. In 2023, he lost his life in a motorcycle accident.
“My thoughts and prayers are with Treat’s family,” actor Taylor Kinney remarked following the tragedy. He went on, “He was a father figure to everyone on set and played my father on Chicago Fire.”
He has a remarkable capacity to light up a room, and I will always enjoy our chats. He will be missed, and we all send our love.
“I grew up in a working class town with working class friends and I find that there’s a reason there’s police dramas and medical dramas: bad things happen all the time, so you’ve got drama,” Treat stated in a mysterious statement prior to his death regarding his work on Chicago Fire and Blue Bloods.
We offer our condolences to Vivienne Marie’s family and the whole staff at the NBC show, which has apparently had its share of sadness, in light of her recent passing.
