“The White Lotus” provided us with the ominous tropical vacation we never knew we needed — and delivered some of the finest performances of 2021.
Absolutely,” IndieWire’s TV writer Ben Travers wrote in his review of the HBO limited series. “Does it tackle the unpleasant reality of America’s wealth disparity by studying a confined group of subjects on either extreme of the ever-widening spectrum? It would be weird if I responded, ‘No,’ so yep, that’s there, too.”
Murray Bartlett, Connie Britton, Alexandra Daddario, Fred Hechinger, Jake Lacy, Brittany O’Grady, Natasha Rothwell, Sydney Sweeney, and Steve Zahn lead the ensemble series, with breakout star Jennifer Coolidge showing us why she’s an icon for her role as a grieving (and tone-deaf) elite.
Additionally, Molly Shannon Appeared in a Cameo Role Alongside Jon Gries, Jolene Purdy, Kekoa Kekumano, and Lukas Gage. So, What’s Next?
Fans were already salivating over the prospect of a sequel after the first film’s shocking conclusion. Showrunner Mike White announced an anthology series, so we didn’t have to hold on to our pleated designer khakis for too long.
As White explained to TVLine, the hotel would have to be called something different, such as “The White Lotus: San Tropez”. No one from Season 1 could go on the same vacation twice, in my opinion. But maybe it could be a Marvel world type thing, where some of them would come back.”
Now, finally, we’re getting some answers as to which new celebs will be checking in to the premium hotel this time around. Or as HBO said in a press statement, season two would “follow a different group of vacationers as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amid its inhabitants.”
“Leaves Hawaii behind and follows the second group of tourists as they jet to another White Lotus property and temporarily dwell in amongst its inhabitants,” HBO revealed in an August 2021 announcement.
A Brand-New Site
It has not yet been determined where the second season will take place, although White told Entertainment Weekly in August 2021 that he thinks they will have to go worldwide this time around.
“We would travel somewhere different since there’s no way we could be able to afford the Four Seasons in Maui,” the Enlightenment founder added. Therefore, “The White Lotus: Kyoto or something” would be required.
The exciting aspect about leaving the U.S., he told EW, is that the authors “could go into culture clash themes and stuff like that.” The “Pineapple Suite” is known as what in Japanese?
The Cast for the Upcoming Season Will Be Completely Different
Though The White Lotus is returning, viewers will not venture back to the same Hawaiian resort. There will be a new set of travellers and staff, as well as a new hotel, as the series continues anthologically. HBO announced, “The second part of The White Lotus leaves Hawaii behind and follows a fresh group of tourists as they jet to another White Lotus property and settle in temporarily amid its inhabitants.”
Michael Imperioli and Aubrey Plaza, who will play Harper and Ethan Spiller, were the first stars of The White Lotus season two to be officially confirmed. Theo James and Meghann Fahy will portray Cameron and Daphne Babcock, a married couple on vacation with the Spillers. “Most of my narrative is a separate story,” explains Plaza. I play a married woman and we’re on vacation with another couple. We have a tale with our four main characters, but there are times when they cross over, as in the first season.”
The rest of the cast is stacked. The Hollywood Reporter, F. Murray Abraham will play Bert Di Grasso, an old man travelling with his son, Dominic (Michael Imperioli) and grandson, Albie (Adam DiMarco) (Adam DiMarco). English ex-pat Quentin is played by Tom Hollander, and a young woman travelling with her boss is played by Haley Lu Richardson.
In March 2022, with underway, HBO revealed three Italian actors will be joining the cast. Valentina, the White Lotus resort’s manager, will be played by Sabrina Impacciatore; Mia and Lucia, two of the hotel’s native Italian girls, will be played by Beatrice Grannó and Simona Tabasco, respectively.
The Second Season Will Be Set in Italy
Once season two was confirmed, people immediately began speculating about the show’s future location. White gave a few impromptu suggestions of his own, telling IndieWire, “It would have to be a new hotel, like, say, ‘The White Lotus: San Tropez’ or something,” he said. It would be “fun too,” because we could get into culture clash ideas and stuff like that because White suggested to Entertainment Weekly that they do White Lotus: Kyoto.
A move to Italy for Season 2 of The White Lotus was eventually announced in January by Variety. Specifically, the show will be filmed in Sicily, with sources telling the publication that the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace will feature as the fictional Italian White Lotus resort as the Four Seasons Resort Maui did for its Hawaiian equivalent in season 1.
“It’s quite wild,” Aubrey Plaza said to Cosmopolitan when asked if filming had begun. This entire hotel is now under our control. There’s a buzz in the air.” I like how the setting of the programme influences the storyline,” she continued. Sicily is such a culturally rich place. Since we arrived, a volcano has erupted in the area. It’s a really tense situation. It’s going to feel like that.”
Jennifer Coolidge Will Return for the Show’s Second Chapter
TVLine revealed the revelation in mid-October, and HBO confirmed the star’s comeback in February 2022. Only Coolidge has been confirmed to return from The White Lotus’ first season.
White, in an interview with IndieWire, hinted that some of the characters from The White Lotus could return in season two, even though the cast is largely new. A repeat vacation with all of the Season 1 participants, he asserted, “wouldn’t be credible.” “On the other hand, it may be like the Marvel universe, where some of them return.” Coolidge is the sole verified comeback.
Alongside Coolidge, the first season’s cast included Connie Britton, Steve Zahn, Murray Bartlett, Alexandra Daddario, Jake Lacy, Molly Shannon, Sydney Sweeney, and Natasha Rothwell.
White cited the challenges of bringing the same group of actors together again. As he put it, “We merely signed one-year contracts with the performers.” “So we’d have to figure out who is even accessible.”
Where Can I Watch White Lotus Season 2?
The White Lotus may be seen on Sky Atlantic, any Sky-affiliated streaming app, including Sky Go and Now TV, as well as HBO Max and HBO, Go in the United States.
The show was only confirmed for its second season and has not begun filming, so it may be a long until it hits HBO. For now, you can catch up on all of season one with HBO Max’s offerings. There’s no word on when the movie will be available.
