White Bird Movie Release Date: Few people could have imagined how popular the 2017 movie Wonder would become, which was based on the book by R.J. Palacio.
Even though it only cost $20 million to make, the movie made $306.2 million at the box office and got great reviews from both audiences and reviewers. Since the movie was so popular, it made sense for Lionsgate to try to continue the Wonder story in some way.
In addition to being good for business, Wonder’s idea is the kind of medicine that the world needs to put more emphasis on love than hate.
The 2017 movie told the touching story of August “Auggie” Pullman, 11, who was bullied and picked on by other kids at a private school because he was born with a rare genetic disease and a deformed face.
The spin-off sequel/prequel White Bird, which used to be called White Bird: A Wonder Story, is about Julian, Auggie’s bully, and his experiences with his grandmother, who lived as a Jewish girl in France during World War II.
She thinks that telling her grandson stories from her past is the best way to teach him important lessons about life.
When Does ‘White Bird’ Come Out?
The movie was supposed to come out on September 16, 2022, but it wasn’t until October 14, 2022.
The movie wasn’t going to come out until a month before it was supposed to. The movie was then set to open in a few theaters on August 18, 2023, and then to everyone on August 25, 2023.
That release, too, never happened, though. Lionsgate stated in December 2023 that the movie would finally come out on October 4, 2024, more than two years after its original date.
When Does “White Bird” Come Out In Theaters?
Yes, White Bird will only be shown in theaters, even though the release date has been moved several times. The movie is currently up against Joker: Folie à Deux, the highly anticipated musical follow-up to Todd Phillip’s Oscar-winning movie Joker.
What’s The Story Behind “White Bird”?
It continues from where Wonder left off. Julian has been sent home from Beecher Prep for making fun of Auggie’s looks. After these things happen, Julian’s grandma comes to visit and feels moved to tell a story from her past.
There’s kindness and love in this story, and Julian could use some of that. Grandmère takes her grandson down memory lane as she talks about her life as a young Jewish girl in Nazi-occupied France during the height of World War II.
Thanks to the bravery of her classmate and his parents, who do everything they can to hide her from the Nazis, she lives to tell her grandson about the power of love and understanding.
White Bird Cast
Sara Albans, Julian’s grandma, is played by Helen Mirren, who has been in many period dramas over the course of her career. Mirren has won many awards, but she is the only artist to have won both the American and British Triple Crowns.
Bryce Gheisar plays Auggie’s old bully Julian Albans again, just like he did in the 2017 movie Wonder. In addition, Gheisar has been in A Dog’s Purpose and The 15:17 to Paris.
He also played the lead role in two Nickelodeon shows, The Astronauts and Are You Afraid of the Dark?: Curse of the Shadows. Gillian Anderson, who has been in hit TV shows like “The X-Files,” “The Crown,” and “Sex Education,” plays Julian’s mother, Vivienne.
Also in the group are Orlando Schwerdt as Julien and Ariella Glaser as Sara when she was younger.
