Big Meech is 55 years old now and is serving a 30-year sentence in a federal jail in the United States. A lot has been said about the brothers’ friendship right now, and many news outlets got it wrong when they said they were fighting.

No matter what, it was known that the two brothers were close and worked together to build and grow the BMF business in the late 1990s and early 2000s. The band BMF was founded by Terry and Big Meech in Detroit, Michigan. It later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. They became famous for living a lavish life with expensive cars, homes, and parties where famous people went.

Because it was linked to many street gangs and drug cartels, the group grew to become one of the biggest and strongest drug dealing networks in the US. But Terry and Big Meech were caught and charged with several federal crimes in 2005.

These included conspiracy to murder, drug trafficking, and money laundering. In 2008, both of the brothers agreed to plead guilty. Along with his brother Big Meech, Terry was given a 30-year sentence in federal jail.

Not only were Terry and Big Meech brothers, but they also worked together in business. They worked together a lot to set up and run the BMF organization, making important choices and running things together.

Their shared goals and complementary skills were very important to the success of their drug business. However, their relationship may have been under a lot of stress because of their legal problems and time spent in jail.

Terry Flenory Ran Their Drug and Money-laundering Business

Terry Flenory, better known as Southwest T, was very active in his family’s drug business in the 1980s and 1990s. In high school, Terry and his brother Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory started a business that sold drugs. Before, people called them “50 BOYZ” because they sold small amounts of cocaine for $50 on the streets of Detroit.

After that, in 1985, they helped start The Black Mafia Family (BMF) and set up a shop in Detroit, Michigan, USA. Terry was in charge of running the group, and Big Meech was in charge of planning it all. The BMF drug cartel grew to be one of the biggest and strongest in U.S. history. It mostly worked in Atlanta, Georgia, and other big towns across the country.

Terry was in charge of operations and was responsible for transporting and spreading huge amounts of cocaine and other illegal drugs. With clear ties to Mexican drug gangs, the two had been selling cocaine in the state for a long time by the year 2000.

They had to open a branch in Los Angeles because they had to oversee a huge chain network and a big staff. Big Meech was in charge of the one in Atlanta that was for marketing, and Terry Lee was in charge of the one in Los Angeles that was for shipments coming from Mexico.

Since the early 2000s, the group has become wealthier and more well-known. It did, however, have a bad reputation and was already drawing the attention of the police. So, to get an edge over their competitors, they set up BMF Entertainment in the music business.

Their main goal was to have a front group so they could get their money from selling drugs. A lot of people say that this is when the brothers started fighting, which is what led to their arrest in 2005.

Why Terry Was Arrested and What Charges Were Brought Against Him?

A lot of people were shocked when Terry and his brother were arrested because the group had already been targeted and 17 members were arrested early on. The DEA had enough proof to catch the two brothers, and most of that evidence came from Terry’s wiretapped conversations.

Terry Flenory said some things that could be used against him and his brother that were used to connect them to the charges against them while he wasn’t aware that he was being taped.

It was 2005 before they were charged, and the government already had about 900 pages of transcripts of talks that were tapped on his phone. Terry and his brother pleaded guilty to all charges against them and were given 30 years in prison in September 2008 for their part in a statewide operation that took place from 2000 to 2005 and trafficked cocaine.

Terry was locked up for twelve years before he was given compassionate release on May 5, 2020, and told he could stay at home because of his poor health and the rising number of illnesses in jail in general. In order to stop the coronavirus outbreak from spreading among prisoners, the Federal Bureau of Prisons tried to free some of them.

Big Meech, who was still locked up at the Federal Correctional Institution in Sheridan, did not get as good of care as his brother. In the same situation, he also asked for parole, but a federal judge turned it down, saying it would be too soon to let him go because his jail records didn’t show that he had changed. He is going to be freed on May 5, 2029.
