The story of Mike and Sue Reuschel, a married couple who were discovered stabbed and bleeding in their posh Gainesville, Florida, home in the early hours of February 3, 2018, is examined on CBS’ “48 Hours: Reuschel vs. Reuschel.”
Mike, a multimillionaire, had called 911, reporting that they had been attacked by an intruder who had broken into their home, according to the dispatcher and the officers who responded.
Sue, however, gave a quite different account when she woke up in the hospital many hours later, saying that Mike had actually attacked her. In this instance of he-said-she-said, let’s learn more about Sue and her location at this time.
Who Is Susan Reuschel?
Sue, also known as Susan, met Michael, a 49-year-old computer millionaire, on a dating website when she was 38 years old and employed as a hospice nurse. Sue swiftly emerged as the lady of the Reuschel home once they got to know one another and started a romance.
Ultimately, after only two years of dating, Mike made the decision to marry his wife in August 2007 in order to spend more time with her. To that end, he bought up a nearby company. Things altered soon after, although for a while their marriage appeared to be happy.
According to documents, the couple had a fight about exceeding their planned budget in late November 2017, when one of Mike’s daughters got married. The quarrel got so bad that Sue had to call the authorities.
Subsequently, she acknowledged that during an angry outburst, she shoved her spouse and attempted to strike him. After that, the judge ordered her to avoid him and she was taken into custody.
Counseling for anger and alcohol control was also provided to her. Still, the battery charge was withdrawn when Mike refused to press the matter further. Still, he claimed that Sue had physically harassed him previously.
Although Mike is not known to have reported any of the claimed events, Sue has denied ever being abusive. Therefore, things became a little challenging after the 2018 stabbing incident.
Mike requested in February 2018 that Sue, who had been living in a beach property under her orders since late 2017, spend the weekend at the couple’s Gainesville residence.
She followed through on this, but once feelings from the past surfaced again, she informed her husband that she was divorcing him. Because he didn’t want to share his wealth with Sue, Mike allegedly nearly killed Sue with a knife at that point, according to the prosecution.
Susan Reuschel: Where is She Now?
During Mike’s attempted murder hearing, evidence of his poisonous marriage to Sue, their hateful texts, and the bloody guest room where Sue was attacked were all presented.
However, his defense maintained that he was the true victim, despite the fact that he was accused and jailed for the same on February 3, 2018, the day Sue revealed the truth and woke up from the operation for her life-threatening injuries.
But that didn’t matter when Sue herself spoke from the platform, explaining how the attack made her feel like she was being disfigured and how she managed to save her own life: “I said, ‘Michael we don’t have to divorce.'” “I refuse to divorce you,” he said, setting down the knife.
Sue claimed that once Mike put down the weapon, she was fighting for consciousness and asked him to call for assistance. He agreed, but only if she could confirm his account of the intruder entering the house and hurting her.
Luckily, Sue had the audacity to forego following up on that and succeeded in putting her husband in jail, whereupon he reportedly attempted to recruit a hitman to murder Sue. Ultimately, Mike received a 30-year prison sentence, and Sue, now free, initiated the divorce proceedings.
At present, Susan O’Brian Reuschel, who is fifty years old, would rather be out of the spotlight. However, based on what we’ve seen, she appears to be over her breakup and is making an effort to move on.
