Where is Greyson Chance Now? From Viral Sensation to Indie Artist

Where is Greyson Chance Now?

Where is Greyson Chance Now? How did you find out about Greyson Chance? Because when I got home from school in 2010 my mom was gushing about a boy who was 12 years old at the time and had performed a Lady Gaga song on Ellen.

I will admit it: I wished I had this kid’s skills. I mean, did that other kid really get to go on Ellen? In the meantime, I learned P.E.M.D.A.S. for eight hours at school. I thought this was all crazy because the internet was still new to me in the 2000s and early 2010s.

The family computer was where kids my age would do their chores and instant message each other. Back then, no one was posting movies online and getting found. It was a very different time, and one TikTok movie took us right back to that crazy time.

See below for a quick review of Greyson’s life and rise to fame. What Greyson is doing now as well.

Who is Greyson Chance? How Did He Get Well-known?

There was a film of Greyson Chance singing “Paparazzi” at his sixth-grade music festival that went viral on YouTube in 2010. Soon after, Ellen DeGeneres asked the 12-year-old from Edmond, Oklahoma to be on her show. There, she gave him $10,000, a new piano, and signed him to her music label, Eleven Eleven.

“Waiting Outside the Lines” was Greyson’s first song. It came out five months later, and he went on tour in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

From a distance, it looked like Ellen was making Greyson’s dreams come true. She wasn’t the best guide, though, as he told Rolling Stone in 2022. That was a bad time in his life. At the time, he was working 14–16-hour days under her supervision. “I’ve never met someone more manipulative, self-centered, and blatantly opportunistic than her,” he said.

In 2011, Greyson’s first album, “Hold On ‘Til the Night,” came out. Ellen continued to oversee every part of his career, down to what he wore. “She would come in and look at a rack, yell at stylists, and berate people in front of me,” he said, noting “she was just degrading to people,” he stated.

Ellen finally stopped talking in 2012, when sales of his second record went down. “I was unable to contact her. “Couldn’t talk to her,” he said, adding that she “completely abandoned” him when things were tough. In the end, Greyson found out that Eleveneleven had dropped him.

That’s when Greyson, who was living in L.A. at the time, went back to Oklahoma and stopped making music. After that, he went to the University of Tulsa. He told everyone on Instagram that he was gay in 2017.

Where is Greyson Chance Now? Since He Broke Up With Ellen, He’s Put Out Two Records

Greyson returned to music in 2019 after a three-year break. He signed with Arista Records and Sony Music and put out his third album, Portraits. In 2022, he released Palladium. Instagram says that Greyson is working on his fifth record as of October 2023, but it’s not clear when it will be out.

Greyson shared a TikTok video in November 2023 that talked about his life. The person who made TikTok asked in a video, “Remember when going viral got you on Ellen?”

Greyson put together her movie and showed how he felt about it. He didn’t say anything in the video. Instead, he took a deep breath, put his phone on the bathroom sink, and slowly fell to the ground until he was out of sight.

In the comments, someone made fun of him by saying, “This guy remembers!”

It was mostly people who remembered Greyson’s better times, though. One user wrote, “Your performance of “Paparazzi” changed the course of my life.”

Someone else said they like Greyson’s version of “Paparazzi” better than Lady Gaga’s.

“Greyson Chance is my Roman empire,” one person wrote. “That interview with Ellen makes me think more than I should.”
