After a protracted period of time dealing with various injuries, the Trail Blazers released him in March of 2012. Early years

Oden was born in the city of Buffalo, New York, but he relocated to the city of Terre Haute, Indiana, with his family when he was nine years old.

When he was a middle school student in Terre Haute at the Sarah Scott Middle School, he made his interscholastic basketball debut. After that, Oden moved to a new home with his mother and brother and enrolled in Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. While there, he led the school’s basketball team to three consecutive state titles in the Indiana Class 4A competition before graduating in 2006. Alongside Monta Ellis, he was honoured as Parade magazine’s High School Co-Player of the Year in 2005.

Additionally, he was recognised as the 2005 National Boys Basketball Player of the Year. In 2006, he won the Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Oden was honoured with the Mr. Basketball title in Indiana in 2006. In addition to that, he was selected for the McDonald’s All-American Team, participated in the All-American game, and was named to the first squad of the Parade All-American team for the second year in a row.

College career

Oden and his Lawrence North teammate Mike Conley Jr. made the announcement that they would be attending Ohio State University beginning with the 2006–07 school year on June 29, 2005. Oden will be joining Conley Jr.

Oden had surgery on his right wrist on June 16, 2006, in Indianapolis, in order to correct a ligament injury that he sustained late in his senior high school season. The injury occurred when Oden was playing for his high school team.

As a consequence of this, he was forced to take a seat on the bench for Ohio State for the beginning of the 2006–07 season, during which the Buckeyes reached their highest ranking of number one before suffering a defeat at the hands of North Carolina. Coming off the bench for the game against Valparaiso on December 2, 2006, he made his collegiate debut that day.

At the end of the game, he had a total of 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks. One of his coaches, Steve Kerr, referred to him as a “once-in-a-decade player” in December of that year.

On January 29, 2007, the Big Ten honoured both Oden and Alando Tucker of Wisconsin as Players of the Week. Oden received the distinction first. He finished the previous week with an average of 18 points and 11.5 rebounds per game. On March 6, 2007, it was announced that Oden had been selected for First Team All-Big Ten and had also been chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year for the conference. In the second round of the NCAA Tournament against Xavier, Oden fouled out for the first time in his collegiate career.

Throughout the tournament, Oden struggled with foul problems, which ultimately led to his elimination. Oden swatted a possible game-winning shot in the final seconds of Ohio State’s victory against Tennessee in the Sweet Sixteen to preserve an 85–84 victory. Oden then went on to lead Ohio State to victories over Memphis and Georgetown in order to proceed to the 2007 National Championship. In the championship game, Oden had a losing effort against the Florida Gators, but he still managed to score 25 points, grab 12 rebounds, and block four shots.

Oden was selected for the Associated Press All-American Team, along with Kevin Durant, Arron Afflalo, Alando Tucker, and Acie Law.

Oden and Durant became only the third and fourth freshmen ever to be selected to the All-American First Team. Oden was the first freshman to be voted to the team since 1990, and Durant was the third overall. Oden’s home record was perfect during his whole career, both in high school and in college.

Professional career

Oden appeared at the San Diego Comic-Con in 2008.

Oden made the announcement that he would be entering the 2007 NBA draught on April 20th of that year. He was chosen by the Portland Trail Blazers with the first overall pick on June 28th, 2007, and he joined the team. Oden decided to start his career with the Trail Blazers wearing the number 52 uniform. Prior to Oden’s first practice with the NBA, which took place on the 1st of July, he was signed to a deal that included two guaranteed seasons as well as team options for the third and fourth seasons.

Oden underwent microfracture surgery on his troublesome right knee on September 14, 2007, to address the issue. He was absent for the entirety of the season. The Trail Blazers’ website as well as Oden’s personal blog both kept track of his progress.

Despite the fact that he was selected in the first round of the draught in 2007, Oden entered his first professional season as a rookie due to a knee injury.

Going into the 2008–09 season, his listed weight was 250 pounds (110 kilograms), but according to the trainer for the Blazers, Jay Jensen, he weighed approximately 290 pounds (130 kilograms) in July. Due to a foot ailment, Oden was forced to leave his first game in the NBA, which was a match against the Los Angeles Lakers in which he did not score.

After being out for two weeks, he came back on November 12, 2008, and scored his first points in the NBA during the first quarter of a game against the Miami Heat. In a game against the Milwaukee Bucks on January 19, 2009, Oden scored a career-high 24 points and pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds, leading the Bucks to a 102–85 victory.

During a game against the Golden State Warriors on February 13, 2009, he damaged his left knee after clashing knees with an opponent named Corey Maggette. As a result of the injury, he was sidelined for three weeks due to a chipped kneecap.

Oden dunked the ball during a game while he was playing for Portland. Oden scored 24 points in a game once again on November 23, 2009, which tied his career high for points scored in a single contest. On December 1, he recorded 20 rebounds, which was a new single-game high for his career. Oden went down with an injury to his left knee on December 5, 2009, while playing in the first quarter of a game. He was carried off the field on two stretchers that were joined together.

Later on, he sustained a fracture to his left patella and needed surgery to treat it. As a result, he was sidelined for the remainder of the season. This injury was the second time that Oden had to sit out a significant portion of playing time due to an injury.

The team made the announcement that Oden would have microfracture surgery on his left knee on November 17, 2010, effectively putting an end to his 2010–11 season.

It was the third time in Oden’s NBA career that a knee ailment forced him to miss significant time.

The Trail Blazers made the announcement that Oden had suffered an unspecified “setback” on December 9, 2011, leaving them less optimistic about his ability to play in the 2011–2012 season. They did not elaborate on what exactly had happened. Instead of accepting a qualifying offer of 8.9 million dollars, Oden and the team negotiated a deal for a different amount of money. Oden had arthroscopic surgery performed on his right knee on February 3, 2012 (the date of the procedure).

Oden was scheduled to have a procedure on his left knee on February 20, 2012, which was very similar to the procedure that he had on his right knee 17 days earlier. However, while Oden was having the procedure done, additional damage to the articular cartilage was discovered. As a result, Oden had to undergo his third micro-fracture surgery.

Oden was placed on waiver by the Trail Blazers on March 15, 2012, so that the team could make room on its roster for players acquired in trades. Oden made public his decision to skip the 2012–13 season in order to concentrate on the process of recovering from his injuries in May of 2012. There were reportedly multiple teams interested in signing Oden for the 2013–14 season when the month of January 2013 rolled around.

Net Worth

It is estimated that Greg Oden’s net worth is $15 million at this time. Greg Oden was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft, despite the fact that he had only played basketball at Ohio State University for a single season. At Ohio State University, where he played, two of his teammates were also selected in the draft. He was selected first overall, while Mike Conley Jr. was chosen fourth, and Daequan Cook was taken 21st. He became the new number-one pick.

As a result of the knee injury he sustained the previous season, he started the 2008-2009 campaign as a rookie. Oden made the official announcement of his decision to sit out the 2012-2013 season in order to devote more time and energy to the rehabilitation of his knee injuries in May of 2012.
