The First Omen Release Date, Cast, And Everything We Know About It

The First Omen movie is a prequel to the 1979 horror classic The Omen. It will tell the story of a young American woman who is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the Church. There, she faces a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy to bring about the birth of evil in human form.

Remarkably, despite The Omen having numerous sequels and even a remake, none of them made an effort to address Damien’s origin story. Although Damien is the antichrist, it is unclear if he will feature in the film at all. If he does, it will probably be a quick cameo as a baby. The other characters will have to carry the narrative, and it’s unclear how Nell Tiger Free’s primary character will fit into the greater Omen series’ storyline.

It will be very exciting to watch The First Omen because fans were really waiting for something like it and if the storyline comes as perfect to the audience then who knows how many records it’s going to break, Now let’s look into the release date.

The First Omen Release Date

The First Omen, as revealed in November 2023, is scheduled for release on April 5, 2024. Horror films are usually successful throughout the year, thus The First Omen’s chances at the box office should be positively impacted by its April release.

The only other big film to be confirmed for that weekend is the new horror prequel, which only misses the release date of Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, the upcoming blockbuster that is now scheduled for April 12. The First Omen is probably going to be a spooky substitute for other films that are showing at the venue, wherever it is scheduled.

Where Will We Watch The First Omen?

As of now, it’s getting released in theaters only, other platforms like OTT are not presenting it yet but in the future the movie The First Omen will definitely be on streaming platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.

However, you can enjoy the movie in the theater with your friends and family, it will be very exciting.

Who Is Directing The First Omen Movie?

Director Arkasha Stevenson, a recent hire, is arguably most known for her work on the horror anthology series Channel Zero, where she helmed seven episodes. Stevenson, Tim Smith, and Keith Thomas—who helmed the 2022 version of Stephen King, Firestarter—co-wrote the screenplay for the movie. Producer David S. Goyer is responsible for The First Omen. He is a renowned screenwriter who wrote important scripts for films including Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.

What will Be The Cast Of The First Omen?

Despite the fact that a number of cast members for The First Omen have been revealed, many of them lack character assignments, and it is unclear who they will be playing. As a prequel, it’s safe to presume that most of the characters will be new, however, some might make a comeback. The most well-known actor in the film’s cast to date is Bill Nighy (Love Actually), who is slated to play Lawrence. Nell Tiger Free from Game of Thrones is also appearing in a significant part; however, the character’s identity is still unknown.

The Witch’s Ralph Ineson has joined The First Omen’s cast as Father Brennan, a part that was first filled by Doctor Who veteran Patrick Troughton in the 1976 movie. Similarly, Anton Alexander (Exodus: Gods and Kings) will portray Father Spiletto, a character originally portrayed by Martin Benson. Whether or not more characters from the first movie will appear is unknown. Additional top-billed actors are:

What Connects The First Omen To The Omen?

There isn’t much information available on how the two movies relate to one another, but it appears that The First Omen will work as a direct predecessor to The Omen, with little time passing between them. The First Omen will probably take place in the early 1970s, a few years earlier than 1976’s The Omen, which was set in the present day at the time. Since Damien was a little child in the first movie, his birth, which is the subject of the current one, could only have occurred a few years prior.

As both Father Brennan and Father Spiletto were prominently featured in the first movie, including Brennan’s horrific demise, the inclusion of both characters is the only direct connection to the original movie thus far. Though The Omen is a purportedly cursed movie, it’s unclear how the real-life “curse” will play a part in the narrative. Furthermore, it’s uncertain if The First Omen would mention the Thorns—originally portrayed by Gregory Peck and Lee Remick—at all.
