The Exorcist Trilogy: Ellen Burstyn Discusses Why She Returned for Horror Sequel.

The Exorcist Trilogy

Ellen Burstyn, who won an Academy Award for her performance in “The Exorcist,” recently gave an interview to “The Hollywood Reporter” in which she broke her silence over her unexpected franchise comeback in the next film co-produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse. It was asked of the seasoned actress why, out of all the other Exorcist movies in the franchise, she selected to take part in the most recent adaptation of the horror sequel that was directed by David Gordon Green.

Burstyn has acknowledged that she first rejected the offer made by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, despite the fact that the transaction would have netted her a “huge load of money.” The studios, however, were so intent on securing Burstyn’s highly sought-after agreement that they startled the Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore actress by increasing the amount of money they were willing to pay her.

Burstyn explained to the audience, “You know, what occurred was that I’ve turned down numerous versions of The Exorcist 2.” “I’ve turned down every request. Even though they gave me a significant sum of money this time, I declined their offer. After that, they took me by surprise by coming back and saying, “We have increased the offer by 100%.” I responded by saying, “All right, let me think about this.” I was thinking, “Wow, that’s a significant amount of cash. I need some time to think about it.'”
Burstyn was caught aback by their second offer, but having this information surely assisted her in making her choice in the end. She ultimately agreed to participate in the production after coming to the conclusion that the money would be of tremendous use to her scholarship programme for aspiring performers.

She went on to say, “The following idea that came into my mind was: ‘I feel like the devil is asking my price.'” The next idea that popped into my head was, “My price is a scholarship programme for exceptionally outstanding students enrolled in our master’s degree programme at Pace University.” That’s the fee I’m asking.’ After that, I went back and negotiated with them, and in the end, I was able to acquire what I wanted. In addition to that, I am establishing a scholarship programme for aspiring young performers.

A new version of The Exorcist trilogy is not in the works at this time. Rather, it is a direct sequel to the first horror movie, which was taken from a novel written by William Peter Blatty. Halloween director David Gordon Green is directing the film, and he is working on the screenplay with Scott Teems, Danny McBride, and Peter Sattler.

Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn will reprise her iconic role as Chris MacNeil in the upcoming films in the franchise. The first film in the series was released in 1973, and Burstyn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film. Burstyn is coming back to the franchise for the upcoming films. Leslie Odom Jr., who was nominated for an Academy Award for his roles in Hamilton and One Night in Miami, and Ann Dowd, who won an Emmy for her role in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” will also star alongside Ellen Burstyn.

Jason Blum, David Robinson, and James Robinson are going to be the producers of the second instalment, and Green, McBride, and Couper Samuelson are going to be the executive producers. Blumhouse and Morgan Creek Production are going to collaborate on the production of this movie, and Blumhouse has appointed Ryan Turek to serve as the project’s executive producer.

The first version The events of “The Exorcist” revolved around the abrupt possession of a young girl named Regan (played by Linda Blair) by a demon after she came into contact with an ancient Ouija board. An exorcism is performed on Regan by two Roman Catholic priests, played by Max von Sydow and Jason Miller. This is the very last ditch effort to save Regan’s life.
