The Changeling is a forthcoming horror-fantasy television series based on Victor LaValle’s novel of the same name. It will be written by Kelly Marcel, and Melina Matsoukas will direct.
Kelly Marcel, who also functions as an executive producer along with Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, Patrick Chu, Ali Krug, Melina Matsoukas, and Lakeith Stanfield, is the creator of the series. The series follows a man who searches for his wife after she commits a heinous act following the delivery of their first child.

The Changeling Release Date

The series began filming in New Jersey in May 2022 under the working title Improbable Valentine and is anticipated to wrap in the fall. As a result, the fresh new program might premiere in 2023. The novel Changeling is about Apollo Kagwa, Stanfield’s character in the series, who has recently become a parent in New York City. Although Apollo is committed to raising his son, his wife Emma appears apathetic, maybe due to post-partum depression. However, more nefarious powers are at work here, and when Emma goes missing, Apollo must go through a dangerously magical realm to locate her.
Based on the premise and title, the series will presumably incorporate elements of the changeling myth from European folklore, which tells of a fairy (or spirit, devil, troll, or any other type of creature depending on the location of origin) kidnapping human infants and replacing them with one of their own.
In certain versions of the fable, the magical kidnapper would also take the mother to the fairyland to breastfeed the kidnapped child. The series, on the other hand, is certain to include societal concerns, such as the role of gender and race in parenthood, just as the novel does.
