Pachinko is the type of epic tale that could easily fail on screen, but Apple TV+’s adaptation has defied expectations to become one of the year’s best programs by a wide margin.
This is largely due to Soo Hugh’s original approach to the subject matter. Instead of employing the same linear approach that author Min Jin Lee used in the book, the showrunner of Pachinko decided to weave multiple timelines together to create a mesmerizing tapestry of Sunja’s life across multiple generations.
As effective as this is, this strategy will only be effective if Pachinko returns for the numerous seasons it so obviously merits. Thankfully, Hugh intends to continue the series for a total of four seasons, and Apple has now verified that season two is imminent (via Deadline).
“There’s no way you could tell the book’s story in one season, nor should you,” she told Variety. “It would be a disservice to the accomplishments of the novel. When you consider all the characters we have, you realize that we want to live with them and experience life with them. Consequently, this was always the intention when filming the program. We keep our hopes crossed for a second season.”

Release Date for Pachinko Season 2
Season two of Pachinko has now been officially renewed, although considering the international scope of this project, it may still take some time to reach us. In addition, showrunner Soo Hugh has another Apple TV+ show in the works. The White Darkness, based on David Grann’s non-fiction book, will star Loki’s Tom Hiddleston as a British explorer who attempted to reach Antarctica on foot.
Hugh is co-creating the project with Black Swan writer Mark Heyman as showrunner. Given all of this, we wouldn’t be surprised if Pachinko season two doesn’t air until 2024, though the early renewal gives us optimism that it will. At the conclusion of the first season of Pachinko, Sunja found independence as a kimchi vendor in the marketplace. This will sustain her family until her spouse is released from prison, assuming he is released.
The Morning Show Season 4 is CONFIRMED for Renewal!
Those who have read the novel are aware of what will occur next because the series is a faithful adaptation. The introduction of new characters like Naomi suggests that the upcoming season will continue to astonish even the most devoted fans.
Regarding the roster, all the main characters from Season 1 should reprise their respective roles in Season 2. Youn Yuh-Jung, Soji Arai, Jin Ha, Han Jun-woo, Jeong In-Ji, Jung Eun0chae, Lee Min-ho, Kaho Minami, Steve Sanghyun Noh, Anna Sawai, and Jimmi Simpson are included. Pachinko Season 2 has yet to receive a trailer from the makers.
How Many Episodes of Pachinko Season 2 Will There Be?
As of April 2023, it is unknown how many episodes will comprise Pachinko’s second season. The first season consisted of eight episodes, so it is reasonable to presume that the next chapter will contain the same amount.
