Origin Release Date, Casting, And Everything Else We Know About Ava DuVernay’s Next Movie
Origin Release Date: In the 2010s, a lot of great writers and directors came up. Some of the best work from the last ten years came from a new name in the business.
Now that actors like Greta Gerwig (Barbie) and Ari Aster (Hereditary) are big names in the business, it may come as a surprise to learn that not many people knew their names 15 years ago.
Ava DuVernay is another great example of this. She has had a meteoric rise over the last ten years or so.
They have a huge number of fans, and millions of people are looking forward to seeing what she does next. A lot of people are already calling that project “Origin” one to watch later this year, and it’s on its way. Now that you know all of that, here is what we know about Origin so far.
When Will Origin Come Out?
Origin does not yet have a confirmed release date, which is a shame. Still, the movie’s premiere was at the Venice International Film Festival in September.
Right before the premiere, it was announced that NEON had bought the rights to distribute the movie. Now we know for sure that the movie will be in some theaters on January 19, 2024.
What Is Origin All About?
Because of how well DuVernay has dealt with racial discrimination in US history through her writing when Isabel Wilkerson’s non-fiction book Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents came out in 2020, it made sense that any possible movie adaptation would go to DuVernay.
The book goes into great detail about the US caste system and how it works behind the scenes to make life unfair for some people from the time they are born because of their social rank.
In the book, Wilkerson searches the world for personal stories that show how this system is destroying lives on a larger scale. He then looks at these stories through the lens of one country’s traditions and political structure.
We now know what Origin will be about in terms of its main idea. Because DuVernay has strong political and social views, fans can be sure that these themes may come before the movie’s main story. The official summary of Origin right now says:
Who Will Be In The Cast Of Origin?
