Steve Lacy made his first appearance on Saturday Night Live performing his breakthrough smash “Bad Habit,” which he also performed. Since its debut, the track has amassed over half a million views on TikTok and has been featured in over 500,000 user-generated videos. The outstanding hit from Gemini Rights has also climbed to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Lacy paid respect to Dead Kennedys with his performance of “Bad Habit,” during which he wore enormous black sunglasses and wore white shirts with black S’s printed on them. His supporting band also wore white shirts with black S’s printed on them. During the most of the performance, he demonstrated his skill on the guitar. During the bridge, though, he switched gears and danced fluidly to the pace of the song. An arrangement of arrows, supposed to seem like devil horns and to symbolise the dualism that is associated with the astrological sign of Gemini, can be seen in the backdrop.
During a recent conversation with Rolling Stone, Lacy admitted that he was taken aback by the level of success that “Bad Habit” achieved in the music industry.
Lacy responded, “I simply knew it would be fun.” “I was sure that I enjoyed it… Even if I did, I wouldn’t have that brain. I’m simply continuously making stuff, and I’m always looking for that feeling of falling in love with an idea. And I can be really demanding. I had something like two hundred and fifty different ideas for the record, but I always knew I wanted ten songs.”
