Masters of the Air Season 1 Episode 1–9 Recap
Britain was a battleground for the 100th Bombardment Group in 1943. It was led by Gale Cleven and John Egan. Due to cloud cover, their first mission, a daytime bombing mission in Bremen, Germany, had to be canceled.
Three B-17s and thirty men were lost. Some of the problems the team had to deal with were arguing against raiding during the day, losing a British pilot, and getting through heavy enemy fire.
In August 1943, the 100th Air Force unit took part in the Schweinfurt–Regensburg mission. The goal was to destroy German factories that made airplanes before going to the Middle East. The first people to arrive in Africa were Major Egan and Cleven.
In October 1943, Lieutenant Robert Rosenthal also came. All but one of the B-17s that Major Egan led in a second attack on Münster were shot down, making the operation a disaster. German citizens in Rüsselsheim caught Major Egan and almost killed him.
Fifteen planes and 150 people from the 100th Airborne Division were lost over Berlin in March 1944. Captain Rosenthal rejoined the army and was given charge of the 350th.
Captain Crosby had an affair with an ATS officer, and Quinn was not allowed to go on any more missions because she knew how to get away.
