Macfarlane was the lead vocalist and songwriter for the band Fellow Nameless, which he formed in the eighth grade at Lester B. Pearson School for the Arts with a few of his classmates under the name Slipnaught, which they chose at random from a dictionary because they had no name for the group when it was time to perform on stage.
