According to an announcement made by the Ford Wyoming Center on Monday, the legendary classic rock band Journey will be performing in Casper in the month of April.
The band has previously played at the arena, which was then known as the Casper Events Center. The show will be a sort of return for the band, as it will take place almost exactly 40 years after their last performance there.
Casper is one of the 38 cities that will be visited on Journey’s 50th-anniversary tour, which is a celebration of the band’s huge success with songs like “Don’t Stop Believin‘” and “Any Way You Want It.” Journey will be stopping in Casper as part of their trek through North America.
At a press conference held first thing on Monday morning at the venue, the show was revealed. The Mayor of Casper, Ray Pacheco, urged the people to participate in and express their support for the show. He also issued a challenge to the commercial sector of Casper, asking them to participate in the event by hosting food specials or renaming drinks after the band.
Toto, an act that, like Journey, was at the height of its popularity in the late 1970s and 1980s, will be appearing at the performance in Casper with Journey. Toto is probably most recognised for songs like “Africa” and “Rosanna,” among others.
Casper just about met the requirements to be considered for a stop on the tour. The band demanded that the venues have 8,000 seats available. According to the General Manager Brad Murphy, the Ford Wyoming Center, which is currently commemorating its 40th anniversary, has a total seating capacity of 8,017.
Tickets for the performance on April 11 will go on sale at 10:00 in the morning. Friday. They are also available for purchase at the venue (“much like we did in 1983,” Murphy mentioned during the press conference), in addition to being sold online.
